Erm, grounding is teh stupid...
Bah, last week I got in trouble over something ( I think I got into a long arugment with my dad, but hey who never has) Well I was grounded, my beast computer (Named: Commanche) was put to rest somewhere around my house for about a month. So now I'm on my laptop, in my car, in the freezing weather on a WAN connection thats leaking outside my school. Well it can be worse, but not being able to play NS is right now is truely sadening. I have my 2nd command of the clan taking over for me now, but its really sad to hear Practice Rage! Where you at?! *crys* Bah, this little laptop also pukes when I try and run HL. Well it sucks being cold and typing this out some I'm gonna read me some more threads before my long due school bell rings in 6 hours

Yes, grounding does suck. Especially when the parents deciding the grounding are more immature than the offspring they are grounding (like in so many cases with my parents). You can make it though, it'll be a bit rough, but at least you can cruise the forums and such. I lost the internet completely for 8 months over some petty stuff, still havn't forgiven my parents for it.

Ouch, I feel that. Being cut off from the Internet would be a fate too terrible for me to imagine nowadays... good thing my parents don't control my access any more.

Did I mention the 300 bucks a month that I have to put into everything for my clan?

    Server's/Website/Webmaster

Ah yes, also the complaints that I receive everyday from members, or being accused of hacking while playing (no seriously I get accused too often And on my own server too) Bah, its real stressful at times, but I learn to cope with it.

I don't understand why they ground them, it's an odd punishment.

    *gasp!

    Your not wardriving are you?

Wardriving - mooching off of someone elses wireless network

which can be considered theft of services....

No but really, sorry to hear to hear you wont be gaming for a while. Maybe you can play at a friends house.

Where do u exactly get the money ($300 a month) to run your stuff? If you are still young enough to get grounded by your parents, I guess you dont have a full time job or anything.

    Big allowance maybe?

I'd like to note that, despite the fact I'm 18 now, I haven't been grounded since I was 9.

I'm just to ingenious to be held back by being confined to one room, or having no TV or video games. My parents gave up on it. They gave up on spankings too. They don't really work when your kid can out run you, or is strong enough to prevent them.

I would just recommend not getting grounded (or proving to your parents it is not an effective discipline). Of course, you might have the kind that just ground people for...not cleaning dishes or something, which is retarded.

Maybe you just need smarter, more mature or lazier parents.

Of course...there was the one time my Mom tried to prevent me from using the computer (before I got my own, better one)...Ahh, the wonders of reverse psychology...among other things (such as...being the only one who knows how to do anything besides download music and launch half-life).

Listening to: Bohemian Rhapsody, by Queen
...the live edition, it's on a NGE music video, I think it's better than the CD version, but I'm weird. Download it....NOW.

I'm kinda the same as gecko... my parents gave up grounding me waaay before I even reached teens because it didn't work at all. They also stopped spankings because hitting people just isn't right =P
If you get on with your parents really well the worst thing they can do is ignore you and get huffy... that's what they do to me and have done for ages now whenever I get on their badside and it's too effective @.@

when raising kids you shouldnt punish but you should award them - since when you punish them, they'll get a negative view on you, but if you award them for good they will get a more positive look on you - and the world in general.

I remember when I was a kid, I got grounded for about 3 weeks.

I had no choice but to go to the outside world and play basketball with the other kids....

Heh, i've never been grounded in my life. But anyway, respect your parents, they are your parents afterall, they raised you, have forked out countless amounts of money over you, and if you go against their trust or wills, or something else that pisses them off, it's your own fault, live with your actions and pay the price.

I guess i'm lucky i've always had supportive parents, if i did something wrong they actually sat me down and talked to me about it, now whatever i do, they support me.... I still remember the first day i came back with a facial piercing.. "What's that", "i got my lip pierced"... "oh, that's nice".

You can always meet up with friends in school--besides, don't you have homework to finish and stuff?

My parents never grounded me, though, they always came up with some weird punishment (like whipping ).

I've been grounded in a weirder way.

Ok, one time i'm down at the park, I leave my bike unchained and I go and eat lunch. Someone took my bike and threw it down a ravine. I go home, get my stepdad, he comes and helps me look for it. He finds it, brings it back to the house and then asks me "Why did I throw the bike down the ravine?"...I was like WTH? He wouldn't accept the idea that I didn't throw it down so in the end I lied and said "Yes Tom, I threw the bike down the ravine because I wanted to get a new one"...so they ground me...from using my bike for a month. Now that's a weird punishment.

Also, i've been grounded from using the computer before...but as I was always home alone and I was the one who configured the computer start up, not much my mother could do to stop me.

I also am very curious about this. If your parents give you a $300/mo allowance I can't muster too much sorrow for you.

What you mean too old to be grounded? I get grounded all the time! I am 24, and I don't even live with my parents! I am just kidding. I've been wondering where you been lately. Glad to know you're still alive.

which I was able to be grounded when I was growing up.
My parents had different ways of punishing me.
They use to put a sack over my head, hog tie me and beat with with sticks, then lock me in a closet and play LOUD CHURCH MUSIC!

    ....... LOLLOLOLOOL

I was always a good kid I think the last time I was grounded was in grade 11 and that was a LONG time ago now about 5 years ago.

You respect your **** parents and don't EVER raise your fists at either of them.

    My brother did it once.

I caught him outside as he was leaving in a huge huff and puff and knocked his disrepecting arse down.

I have total respect for my parents, we never agrue and I've never been grounded. In turn I have earned their respect as well, so the benefit is mutual. Learn to love and embrace your family, a lot can come of it.
