<div class="IPBDescription">...but not on my maps</div> Whenever I play a standard map that comes with NS my alien HUD is quite dark (see pic), however when I began making my own maps I noticed that the HUD is correctly "lit" when I play a map I have made.
I dont know about other people's custom maps, haven't bothered to get any yet. the minimap is correct too
I'm running NS through HL retail
edit: made pic 640x480

Known issue, bet you have 2 moniters? Only solution is to disable one, sry mate
and no, I do <i>not</i> have 2 monitors... O_o
would it have something to do with the fact I told the 2.0 installer to backup 1.04? maybe I'll try deleting that backup...
edit: hmm, isnt the backup. and btw... i like the green text! <!--emo&:(--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/sad.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='sad.gif'><!--endemo--> green is meh fav color and frankly the orange is ugleh <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo-->
As a warning, unless you feel like alterng the text files when you fix the black hud you will 'fix' the green text (your right I like it better also <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo-->)
/me goes snooping
you would by chance have some sorta 'desktop manager' thing running? (geforce cards come with one) if so try disabling it...
Green Text in OpenGL - You are using 2 monitors. This is not fully supported by the OpenGL API, and will cause weird issues in NS (and in other non-HL games). Disable one monitor when playing NS to avoid this.
yah... wierd
The thing that gets me the most is why its different on my maps and standard maps <!--emo&???--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/confused.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='confused.gif'><!--endemo-->
Most likely because of gamma adjustments in the standard maps.
What kind of monitor do you have?
Max
I have a mitsubishi diamondpoint sb70 monitor
i have exactly the same problem.
neither he nor me has a second monitor.... this might be one reason but surely not the only one.
in my blatant ignorance i hoped he might have found a solution but didn't report back. sorry to have disturbed your silence and asked a question in ignorance of this forums dogma....

Specs:
Athlon 500
256 ram
Voodoo 3 /wickedgl drivers
Windows 98
This leads me to believe that its not just a dual monitor problem like those other 2 gentlemen have said. Anyone else with this problem please post your machine specs so we can maybe find out a solution here. Thanks for you time, hopefully a solution is found for this.
512mb
nVIDIA GeForce4 Ti 4400 (Asus AGP-V8440) via OpenGL
XP Pro
you 3 are the first instances of this problem occuring with out a second moniter (as opposed to many other people who have confirmed that as their source)
as a note this is largely a rant I admit
Now, you have to understand we often have to deal with posts where people simply give us a very brief description of the problem and then ask for a fix.
what would be apreciated is if you went through all of the other posts and simply replied back with your findings when you tried these diff things?
Again, you are our eyes, ears and hands, all we can do is sorta think ;P
so when ever you can give us as much info as you can <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->
ty
I've reinstalled twice now, and frankly, I'm getting sick of reconfiguring my config.
Is there any solution to this? No, I have not got 2 monitors, no, I'm certainly not using any desktop manager, it just popped up right after I used D3D mode for the first time on this PC.
I can't comm, or alien now, this has really screwed me over! Solution fast please folks!
you had colors before you switched to D3D? (why did you do that at al <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo--> )
why can't you comm? and those dark hud icons are more eye friendly then the radioactive yellow...
ps: keep your config.cfg <!--emo&;)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/wink.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='wink.gif'><!--endemo-->
a) I reinstalled NS twice
b) Yeah, I switched to D3D on a bet, which I won.
c) I'm too old to change what I've already gotten used too.
d) Mmm. I did backup my config.
It apears it's a bug with GeForce based cards, simply fixed by disabling desktop managers/second monitors/OR
If you don't have <b>either</b> of the above? Reinstall your drivers! It saves your settings, just sticked everything back in, doesn't make sense, but its teh_fixx0red!11
