Recently, I was reading some of the old tales from the frontlines and I thought, I wonder whether things like this have happened to people in other games. So I decided to ask you. Any game, if you think it's something that you want to tell people about, just post it. Since I don't play on the net (f***ing 56k modem) I can't start it off with a story of my own. I await the first story.

Harsh, I havent used 14.4 for about 5-7 years.
My war story,
'The Battle For Steam'
It started when my PC started so I closed it down, it wouldnt start back up and work till I restarted.
The teams were evenly matched, 32v32. I was on the "Coalition". The map was El Alamein. I spawn in the C-130 Spectre gunship, and we're making a flyby of the "Opposition" non-capturable base. I jump out of the C-130 and parachute down. Seconds later I hear *Kaboom* and watch the specter blow up after being rammed by 2 MiG's. So I float to the ground with my m249. I hit the ground and suddenly *wham* 3 Opposition soldiers start firing at me. I waste an entire m249 clip and take them out. Then I jump in the Hind that I landed next to. Mind you, I jumped in the Gunner seat. 3000 reloading rounds of anti-tank goodness. I made it hell for spawning Opposition soldiers. One guy made it into a MiG, started taking off then suddenly *kaboom* he'd explode from hundreds of anti-tank rounds slamming into his armored arse.
Hueys!
We were surprised by the Hueys, and when they played Wagner.. It was intense. We had not known we were a mere 100 meters away from a fortified Charlie base because it was too dark. Me and the others charged up the hill after the Hueys made one pass and sprayed the place with machinegun fire and rockets. I whipped out my Thompson in front of me and popped two Charlies while one got three of em, and the other two were cut to ribbons by an RPD. I rounded the corner and stared down the barrel of an AK. I squeezed my trigger but it was too little too late. I was dead.
Then I typed 'exit' and decided it was enough Eve of Destruction for one night.
I start at the remote tower, grab a heavy armor and a mortar, and start hiking up the hill just as our flag gets stolen, and a guy gets away in a grav bike with it. I trot off the the hill, and see basicly, 30 guys in the valley below trying to stop this guy unsuccessfully.
So, I pick a spot on the horizon, fire a mortar round, and wait.
The big green shell takes a total of 10 seconds before it lands squarely on the top of the guy's head. Note, the grav-bike was moving upwards of 200 kph, and mortars have a large arc. Not to mention the fact that I was 200 meters above the guy. It was awesome.
Conclusion: I defeated 3 NEs as me being NE. Totally sad on their part, and I put them on my favorites list and laughed at them until they all muted me =D.
one time i was so in the groove... (i'm one of those players. in or usually OUT of the groove) i was going like 20 kills for each death, pretty constant ratio.. but the satisfaction comes from just BLASTING things with that bEAUTIFUL shotgun and its fx... mmmm. it looked so real. what a fun, fun game.
[EDIT]Sorry for the double post, I only remembered about the edit button after it was too late[/EDIT]
El Alamein
I am the only one on my team that can fly better than a dead goldfish. Everyone tries to lift off and they aren't used to the inverted keys and crash downwards.
This really sucked. I am one of the best helicopter pilots, but there's only the BlackHawk, as I was Coalition. So I hopped in, went around their base. AMAZING. They were all planecamping. Quickly, I steered it to the gunner side (the right) and gunned down like 4 in a row. This took a few seconds, and by that time, I was pretty low to the ground.
I hopped to the first seat and lifted it up slowly again.
Now, being that low in an enemy base is not good, especially in a BlackHawk. Sure enough, I see a guy with a Stinger pop out from behind the building. In a panic, I swerved to the right again, in hopes to gun him down before he could shoot me.
This is the amazing part. You know how the BlackHawk has the doors open? Well, the guy fired a rocket right at the center, where the gun is. Then, as I was sort of hovering, the rocket went through the middle of the chopper and out into the sky. That was so awesome. He was reloading now, and I was high into the sky--high enough to shred him in half with a spray of the mini-gun fire. So I did.
Ranging from Operation: Urgent Fury, Operation: Acid Gambit, Operation: Desert Shield/Storm, all the way to Operation: Iraqi Freedom.
But here is some combat from America's Army: Operations, a little story I like to call..
SNIPER HUNT.
Most of the Squad dispersed among the sparse vegitation of Mountain Pass. The winter had been harsh. The OpFor were sending in a squad sized infantry element to attack our convoy. I crouched down by a tree holding my M-24 SWS. The Advanced Marksman equipped with the M-82A1M had taken up a position on a ridge over looking a road the Opfor would advance from. The rest of the squad was dug in well, and that left me only one job: Sniper hunting. The OpFor started by lobbing volleys of rifle mounted grenades from their Russian made GP30s, wounding a good nubmer of our men. As the CLS's got to work, the enemies rushed down the road. Soon there was a thunder clap. The M82A1M precisely picks off the soldiers advancing down the road. I look through my scope and see an opfor prone. He is holding an SVD. I do not hesitate and take my shot
"EvilSnipah was sniped by RadioactiveHamster."
I get up and run, knowing there is one more enemy sniper out there and he prolly knows where I am now. I hate it when I'm right. I hear a loud *WHOOSH* as a russian Mosin Nagant round whizzes past my head. I perform a lateral roll into a bush, aim, and fire with out stabilizing, then lateral roll again...
"L337H4x0r was sniped by RadioactiveHamster."
The rest of the OpFor were easily mopped up with no KIA and only a few casualties.
I was on the jap aircraft carrier as an engineer. Like most of the other players I was waiting for a plane. I stood for ages, a plane came, someone took it and got blown up by American planes before he took off, I was unscratched though This happened about 10 times.
I just sat there repairing the ship and finally got a plane. I managed to take off and then shoot down those annoying American planes. We went on to win the game
Someone used the Sniper Rifle.
That's all I can think of now.
Nothing like dividing up into squads complete with asigned roles (one smart gunner, engieer, flame guy etc) and playing the marine campain one the hardest setting.
With all your real life friends.
NS.
The other day Our entire team relocated to processing double node. Comm was shouting over and over, EVERYONE GET SHOTIES AND TAKE OUT VENT< TOGETHER WAIT FOR BACK UP STAY TOGETHER GO GO GO
We all got shotties and massed up outside in back where the weldable door to vent was. I welded it and all 12 of us stormed down the ramp into vent hive expecting a huge battle. CHARGE! We charge in and then...
nothing
"Comm there is no hive."
Tons of laughter
Comm= "What do ya mean there is no hive?!?"
More laughter.
Comm= Oops, Quick go to sewer! GO GO GO STAY AS A TEAM STICK TOGETHER GO GOGO!
The comm was very expirienced and was not a newby. He just made a mistake, it happens, It was very funny though.
So funny, 6 marines couldn't hit me at basically point blank. Classic.

And they're to circular, and it's all the same. Maybe someone should map the NS maps for it.
one thing that many people don't count on:
with akimbo weapons you can switch to FREE SEMI. this is:
-left click = left gun
-right click = right gun
now when you've got this.... you can click BOTH at the same time, and if you have good timing at clicking both simultaneously, you can spray those bullets effectively twice as fast.
ex: if the RoF of your fastest left clicking is like 600rds/min, it can become about 1k rds/min (WITH PISTOLS!!) your right click will be a little slow, so you won't be DOUBLING it that fast, but hey. it helps.
STORY:
basically i ditch every item except for dual colts, go 60 kills without dying in a 12 person free for all. these people have skills, it wasn't nubblies. but.. my technique was so **** perfect, putting pair after pair of .45ACP in torsos and heads all over the place... bodies just FLYING... at close range usually putting one pair in a torso and following quickly with a single left or right shot to assure the kill, if the body wasn't already dying..
gawd it was fantastic. try it ^_^

That doesn't work with Dual SOCOM's. That's all I use.
