Classic Ns Humor

To lighten everyones day
Well apparently on NS_Lost the Aliens suceeded into driving the marines out of their base.
The marines in all their creative genius decided to pull an emergency last resort relocation out of their arse.

They sent one marine to weld open the emergincy res node just outside the marine start. He then went inside and somehow managed to build a comm chair, IPs, armoury, and the res node into that tiny room.

Then as they respawned they all crammed into the room and dont ask me how,

I dont know if this is a glitch or what, but they said all but one of them went inside, the last marine welded the door back shut. I didnt know this was even possible. But anyways the door would not open.

The marines could not get out except for a phase gate they managed to build from inside the room. The Aliens could not get in.

Everyone stood around for a good 10 min. The Hungry Hungry Oni trying to figure out a way to get the treat inside the bag if you will.

Eventualy everyone came to an agreement. ONE marine would go through the phase gate and reweld open the door so we could end the game. No one would F4.

2 marines came through. My buddy Kain-TSA[e] took care of the second marine as you can see in the bottom middle of the screen .

So the lone marine re welded the door open for the 2nd time. The door opened up and the aliens were met by a wall of HMG fire that took out half the Aliens.

But it was not enough, the hungry aliens stormed inside and mopped up the marine resistence.

I had to crp the edges to make file size smaller.

It's an exploit... you can't weld it shut; the guy was lying. Sorry to ruin your fun.

If everyone goes fade/gorge and get up real close to the door, acid rockets and bilebombs DO go through. Just FYI.

Yeah, exploit. Guy should be banned. YOu can't weld the door shut, but you can build through the wall.

No, you can't weld the door shut. What you can do is build through the pre-opened wall, and thus construct a base in there. I once played a game on a good server where a non-regular player relocated there to begin with. I instantly notified the admins, who kicked the offending comm and restarted the map.

As the previous person mentioned though, acid rockets and bilebombs both go through the wall just as well as you can build through it.

    Yep.

I think you should be able to un-weld, though, I mean, what if you clam up all the vents--but then you grab Jetpack?

Then the comm needs to drop a 'cutting torch'.

That map has WAY to much exploit potential.

This happened to me... I was an Onos and I just cheated to get into the room using /stuck.

I tortured the marines in there for doing it... One Onos in a small cube = FUN!!! I constantly stomped and ate them. Then another Onos joined me and we just stayed there until we got bored

You COULD kill them outside the window in nancy - one round, I was on aliens, and the entire team got through the window. So of course the marines come and set up shop -- our hive goes down -- but we have plenty of defense chambers to suffice. We bounce around the 'space box', chatting over the microphone - "Who would win in a fight, Batman or Superman?". A minor percentage of the team tries to play the game normally, but since we're all outside screwing around, they give up.

But then, it begins. The marines built fourteen -- I counted them -- FOURTEEN sieges at the hive.

    The comm pings us.

That sounds sooo cool. The door flies open, HMGS on one side, onos on the other. Somebody shouts "DIE ALIENS", the aliens roar back and all havoc breaks loose. I remember seeing people build outside the map on a regular basis before, in 1.x. Yes, I think Nancy was the most common, where at least once I saw a marine team assemble a Com Chair on top of Marine Spawn. Same room, just above the ceiling. It took us several minutes of adrenaline bile bombing by multiple fades for the splash damage to finally wipe it out.

In Hera, people would periodically build through the closed door that now leads to a res tower.

It always had been the marines, rather than the aliens, because of the marines ability to build Phase Gates/IPs/Com Chairs through walls. Although sometimes a gorge would walk through one of those off-the-map phase gates and build alien stuff out there.

there always seemed to be a last stand out in space with just an IP on Nancy. Lerk spores took care of the marines but it took along time for the bile bomb splash damage to get rid of the ips.

    good times...

That's not really humor as much as it is an exploit, something that really isn't fun.

The reason you can't weld and unweld is that you have to decide what you want to do. Stop aliens coming through or leave it open to make your movement easier with a jetpack. Else you'd be opening and closing stuff at will, which would be stupid.
  • lolfighterlolfighter Snark, Dire Join Date: 2003-04-20 Member: 15693Members
Yeah, vents would be marine territory, as opposed to skulk territory. We'd hear comments like "OMG nub, remember to weld the vent back shut after you're through it!"

What I remember nancy best for is that whenever I was marine on that map, we'd get a genius commander who would build the ips in the front end of the cockpit, getting everyone stuck when they spawned. We'd just sit there telefragging each other and typing snide remarks at the comm (who must have been red like a tomato) until the aliens got us.
That, and the fact that I could call all the marines "nancy boy" with impunity.
    Damn, I miss that map.
  • MajinMajin Join Date: 2003-05-29 Member: 16829Members, Constellation
I rememebr one game I played on Nancy where the marines where server ops and they were getting there **** kicked so they turned on "sv_cheats 1" and started to build turrets all over the map that would build them selves. You would be walking down a hall hear a sound and turn the corner and boom, a TF and 5 turrets would build them selves right in front of you and you would get smoked!
You would be running down a hall for your life and a wall of Commchairs would block you in and then another wall would seal you trapped. They would then go around and LOL and cap and kill anything they wanted.
As you can imagine sv_cheats worked both ways so I flooded the map with OCS and chambers as well.

    A really crappy game!
It was like playing chess with GOD, you know your gonna lose so why do you keep playing?

I remember a time on ns_nothing where we built a DC\SC farm up on the rafters of powersilo and stayed hidden for fully 10 minutes after our last hive was destroyed... At that point we were only found because the admins got annoyed and told the 'rines where we were

I loved it when there were plugins which allowed the lerk to carry the gorge. Very unrealistic and unbalancing, but loveable nonetheless.

    lerk lift is the best!
I would love it when I was under attack and a Lerk would fly-in, save me and fly me out of danger!
Better yet was the lerk lift that let you lift any alien.
Nothing like seeing a lerk lift a fade and fly him into a marine base drop him and then fly out.
    LOL

Or eggs. A Lerk knew I was evolving to Onos (I had announced it earlier), and then lifted me up and dropped me into one of ns_nothing's trigger_hurt things.

Lol. I hate when I'm building OCs on the railing in Powersilo and I accidentally back up or sidestep over the edge... all I can manage is a weak "help me" before I die.

Although I was rescued once.. My fellow gorge had a lot of res and dropped two OCs over the edge, which I was able to climb onto and, after building 1 more OC, I got back up to solid ground. I believe the OCs died eventually, tho, so in reality it'd have been more cost-effective for me to just die and gorge again. But hey, Gorges gotta stick together!

Did it allow people to carry Onoses? Cuz... that's be horrible.
