(also note that if you rebind your weapon keys to other keys, those other keys will have to be pressed with your crouch to make squads)
But either way, it's only 5 squads.
1-5 are your default slot1-slot5 (weapon) keys; crouch+those keys enable you to make squads;
edit: think about it... if he could, i'm sure he would simply expand the limit... but (based on experience) i haven't played any HL mods that use more than 5 weapon keys; i don't think the engine supports more than 5

The engine does indeed support more than five weapon keys. Open up your config.cfg and have a look at what your number keys are bound to - there are ten slots (0 to 9).
Besides, Opposing Force has seven slots.
There's a big section on the manual I'm writing in the use of squads, and I want to be certain. SjN, I suggest you read it when I'm done. Sheesh.
If Acidophelius could comment on why he suggest there being 9 squads it would help too.
Incidentaly, would the Engine limt that prevents there being more weapon slots (in NS now,) also prevent the future adition of more squads?

1: The engine limit is 10 slots (I think), not 5.
2: I doubt very much that the number of weapon slots would limit Flayra adding more. He'd just have to do it another way.

i stand corrected; opposing force does indeed have 7 slots.
i think flayra should add a 2nd row with slots 6-0. we'd have 10 squads to play with! fun fun fun

I am interested in the possibility of making more squads rather than more weapon slots. Esp as one slot can potentially hold more than one weapon (as in HL).

Only four slots show up when playing because the WeaponList messages the server sends only reference HUD slots 0 through 3. The squads don't take up weapon slots; when you're commanding, those keys are reassigned to send impulses rather than slot1...slot4. The impulses are:

There are many uses for the 5 squads IMHO, it just takes time to organise them. I will wait until the manual is online before I start describing them though.
