The Be-all End-all Steam Post

I've intentionally avoided delving into the whole steam transition mess as I value my sanity, but for all the masochistic sorts who've been actively hacking away, let me ask: when all is said and done and NS is actively and reliably working with Steam, will there be a "Steam post to end all Steam posts" to guide us ignorant neophytes in converting our servers and all that goes along with them (meta/admin/amx-mods, etc.)?

    I wouldn’t say this “ends all” but my upgrade went real quick and painless in the following method.


    1. Make a complete backup of your HLServer directory. THE WHOLE THING unless you feel really gutsy.

    2. Download the server update tool from File Planet

    3. Install the tool as the directions state.

    4. After creating your account, run the update and specify “valve” as the game.

    5. Downloading will begin and Steam updates the appropriate server files and you are done.

    All in all it was painless and my server started with no errors. The only problem now is that Flayra has to release a server patch so the STEAMIDs are properly logged. You can’t ban, kick or have any stats until he does. All the players have the same long ID number.
