I have had this problem b4 and i know what it means. I have bought the game so some1 must be using my CD-key.......

dont think you can prevent it, only way is to get a new cd key.

Well sometimes it's not because someone else is using your key, but won still thinks you are using your key, like say if hl crashes. However, it is highly possible for someone to steal it, I know I've had at least 1 stolen because I bought a HL that was on sell for 5 bucks that had been opened, the cdkey only worked 1/2 the time.

I have the same problem as my PC needs a 50thousand mile format, best idea is just to wait anywere from 5-30 mins should be fine.

P.S how old is your HL copy? as thier was a big exploit in the game way back when it was made allowing hackers to get your CD-key.

One thing you can do is always stay connected to a HL server. That way the person that stole your WON ID cannot ever connect. Some guy with that problem created a dedicated public passworded HL server and always stayed connected to it. Then, when he did want to play, he would just disconnect from that server and connect to a real one. Eventually the person who stole the WON stopped trying. Of course, this can go both ways.

its more often a WON bug when your HL crashed.
