How to behaive in NS games..
1. IF com dies you can very well take com and help ure team out untill he respawns
2. IF you want to stay com ... ask "U want com c back?" staying bejond the respawn time isnt polity at all.
3. IF youve set ure heart on a chambers of some sort.. ask before building it.. no matter wich one it is as team might have different oppinions.
4. IF you want to save for ono fade.. ask first.. as team can easily loose a game when all wants to save etc..

But still, it's good
And if you spend the res on something while he's respawning you might mess up his strategy.

I've actually had to do that before. It's usually at the end of the game when I go to drop med packs for everyone during a break and there's a long respawn queue.
Only problem with doing that is people will expect you to stay comm. And I know that my fps can't handle that, I'd rather be a grunt. And I'm a good grunt too, I'll follow any sane order, that is one not sending me to my doom.
If you do that, do everyone a favour and comm the rest of the game. Noone likes taking over after someone else, and by doing that, you are reducing the number of strategies available for the would-be comm. Essentially, unless a) You want to comm, or b) your team decided to go relocate but noone dropped a chair there and you're still near the start so you can run back and drop one, do not use the comm chair.
I got told I wasn't attacking and was useless by someone when I was the top-killing alien on the whole team by 20 times the nearest score... I got so mad with the jerk I stopped playing and sat on a ceiling; 5 minutes later the game was over with the marines victorious and the nearest kill ratio was still 3 times less than mine (which was still nestled happily at the top). Said jerk was bottom of the alien killing ranks
otherwise i go: "OMG NOOB COMM EJECT!!1!!!!!!111"
i was comming a 3v3 game the other day and got out of the chair to build a proto, while the others were out on the field hassling the aliens, this was about 10 mins into the game. Meanwhile another guy joined marines, jumped in the CC in front of my eyes and recycled everything...including an upgraded armory, elec tf etc. He then gave me a wp to relocate and started telling me that i was a noob for not listening.
like, WTH? steal my cc, recycle my base, i don't listen to him and i'm the noob?
Get the game started is pointless if there isn't going to be a COM. If you jump in, you stay COM. If you jump in, build and jump out, I'd kick you.
I beg to differ on this point.
There was a game in which I was a skulk. I was backing up the gorges, assualting lone marines and taking out res. At one point, the marines assaulted our second hive location, If I hadnt come from behind, they would have been able to set up a forward base.
Eventually, I died, and it was only then that I looked at my res count and notice 100. Since they were setting up a base near our second hive, I went onos, telling my team that I was doing so.
Several people decided to have a go at me for that, saying that I was "Lame" to save for onos. Now, since the whole team was gorge for most of the round, I felt a bit miffed. I was alliterally the only offensive player in the game and here they were having a go at me for evolving to onos so I could help the team save the second hive. As far as I was concerned, I had worked for the team and happened to garner enough res to gain access to a higher life form. It's not like I left my keyboard and sat about doing nothing for ten minutes until my res maxed out.
In my opinion, it's ok to onos without permission as long as you work with your team (defending, assaulting, backing up etc).
IF I'm sure that the team is well off in the infrastructure, I might plan on saving for fade/ono after getting agreement if it's before 2nd hive...if after I usually go fade/ono anyhow since the team will be neededing the heavier firepower
then again, I'm usually gorgie

You dont think he meant attacking their outposts and bases, do you?...

In typical over-zealous Stoneburg fashion

Ah, where were you thursday night? Coulda used ya, some goober did that three rounds in a row.
At the time he shouted that crud I'd blinked away from the marines to regen my health... a dead fade is no good to anybody but the marines

I disagree. On many public servers, there's often confusion about who is going to be comm, and if someone doesn't do something, soon, a skulk rush will kill everyone before even the IPs are up. If everyone's standing around arguing for a short while (presumably there's at least one player who DOES know how to comm, but simply doesn't want to at first,) I see no problem with a grunt hopping in and building the essentials; most players, myself included, simply don't have what it takes to comm a whole game, but an emergency comm in situations such as that can be quite useful.
I'd definately say that building truelly essential structures while a proper comm gets his act together is NOT something I'd expect to be kicked for. If you feel otherwise, I guess you'll have to come up with a MOD that puts a lock on the comm chair... Once you're in, you don't get out.
