<div class="IPBDescription">...Is dead.</div> The Swedish foreign minister, Anna Lindh, is dead.
She died from the wounds of a knife attack.
Someone charged at her, hit her 2 times in the head with a blunt object, stabbed her several times in the stomach, one time in the arm and one time in the chest.
She passed away at Karolinska Hospital in Stockholm this night, around 5.30. She left an entire nation in mourning and a stunned EU.
She became 46 years old.

Its actually 4,000 per hour. Regardless this is sad. People are discovering politicians are just people to, and they are beginning to exploit that weakness. Do something small and cause world change.

And there is also a girl that was 16-17 years old that was missing in a couple of days that hey have found dead in a forest in the northen sweden

Is there any updated news at all on the murder? Swedish news is (somewhat understandably) not heavily covered here in the States.
First and foremost: show some god-damn respect. Even if the person (or people) mean nothing to you, even if you have nothing even remotely to do with it, respect the feelings of those who do. If you can't be diplomatic, just keep your mouth shut.
Second of all, nobody likes a cynic (and I should know; I am one). I highly doubt that people who post crap like "thousands of people are starving to death in Africa every day" in response to threads like this actually give any more of a damn about that fact than the tragedy being referred to. You go through your daily lives as normal. If you're sincerely grief-stricken about all these people dying, whom you feel are important enough to mention and tell other people paying their respects to shut up, that's another matter. But I doubt it.
Third of all, your cynicism is misplaced in this case <i>anyway</i>, even if your foot can't resist the allure of your mouth. This particular death carries more weight than your garden variety heavily-publicised-in-the-media-tragedy-of-<i>relatively</i>-small-proportion since this woman was a leader, and obviously well-liked by her people. Charismatic and competent leadership is hard to come by; (hell, competent leadership by itself is hard to come by). By the sounds of things, this is someone who actually could have made a difference to the world at large. This was someone important.
But the first point is the most important. Learn some tact.
Police believe it wasn't an assassination, it was too amateurishly executed.
They havent caught the so-called amateur, of course.
They are looking for 5-10 witnesses.
The only known threat to Anna Lindh was a hateful e-mail sent to her after some EU debate - Sweden is voting on wether to join the EMU or not sunday.
That is what I gathered from a few swedish news sites.

Since her death seems associated with this issue, I would like to hear the opinions of swedes on that specific vote.

Wurmspawn, they did join EU. They are voting whether to join the European Monetarian Union, or more commonly known as the €uro.
