Sega Game Gear
<div class="IPBDescription">beats the Game Boy Advance!!!!</div> I just got out my old Game Gear from years ago. It was made in 1992, and am I the only one who thinks that the game gear is actually better than the Game Boy Advance, even now!!?
I mean the Game Boy has only just come out with a game boy with a back lit screen. Ok the graphics may be 32-bit. But in 1992 this game-gear had full colour LCD screen with backlight, it has 16 bit graphics and stereo sound, it was pure kewlness. To top it off I've still got my TV Tuner. You could watch TV on ur game gear ffs!!!!! Game Boy Advance can't even do that now!!
I was gonna buy a GBA, but screw it, i'm gonna stick with Mortal Kombat 2, Sonic and Ecco the Dolphin thanku!

2.) The battery consumption is assgasmic on the game gear. Sure it had a colour display and a colour pallet but it was beaten by a hand-held that only had a 4 colour LCD display.
3.) You can go without handheld DOOM if you really want......

I plan on getting a N-Gage if their affordable, for my first phone.
Especially being that the N-Gage and phones in general are gonna start having MMORPGs on them. They tap into your PC at home, so you can play on the go.

Yeah, I'm a poor **** yesterday I barely had anything to eat and I ran out of stuff to drink.
Ah, those were the days. Racing a car down a track with a draw distance of 5 cm and having guns dropped to you by plane.
You may be able to get a TV tuner for the GBA now, but strange how they come out with it 11 years after Sega did!
Anyways, Sony are bringing out a handheld too soon, and so are Microsoft, so i personally think Nintendo are up shi't creek
I am so very glad I am past the fanboy period of my life. I see the games and how cool they are or aren't, not the console that I play them on (even though I only own one console).
But here's the all-important question that you should judge every gaming machine by: Can you play Natural Selection on it? <!--emo&;)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/wink.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='wink.gif'><!--endemo-->
Additionally, the N-Gage looks more to just be a cr*ppy phone combined with cr*ppy video games. I'll honestly stick with my GBA, and Motorola. Wait for that phone that can play Quake 3 online before I switch up.
That or maybe save and get a GP32... horrendously overpowered GBA-style handheld, with better options (including Bluetooth wireless, IIRC), multiple memory readers, emulators for most gaming platforms (SMS, NES, Genesis, SNES, GB, GBA, GameGear, Nomad, TGFX, etc.) with better power consumption, a backlit screen, and lots more goodies for the particularly geeky out there. <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->
And on the subject of general handhelds, gotta love it when these young kids talk about playing their BGA on their TVs like it was some amazing new concept and has never been done before. I remember back when I would bring my GB games over to my buds house and we would play Battle Arena Toshinden for hours an his SNES all the while being amazed by the frame around it.
And I've still got my Super Gameboy, and my Sega Master System. WITH the bloody HIDDEN SNAIL GAME, at the 'ENJOY!' screen. <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo-->
Since I have both a gamegear (rev 1) and a Nomad, I can safely say that neither uses C-Cells. The Nomad has a battery back that holds 6 AAs and the gamegear holds 6 AAs as well. For those who don't know the gamegear (as as mentioned earlier) is really just a Sega Master System stuffed in a smaller package. Likewise, the Sega Nomad is a portable genesis (with TV out and 2 player support <!--emo&:0--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/wow.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='wow.gif'><!--endemo--> ).
WHAT?!? I didn't know that! NOW you tell me... heh, I could have been playing all my old master system games? My old master system crapped out like 15 years ago, (something fried inside) but I had all of it up until it got tossed out like, 3 years ago. All I would have needed was a GG and a bloody adapter. Man. That sucks, cuz some of my games were great fun.
But I got an old gameboy and I don't regret getting it. I still prefer the size of the old machine (fits my hands better now) and the battery life never ceases to amaze me. I fire it up like once or twice a year to play Donkey Kong (the game I bought a Super Gameboy for) and it's been using the same batteries for years! Tough stuff too, cuz I know they've hit the ground a few times... a few walls... and my fists... over the years. (Nintendo's durability cannot be argued. For everything that could break on a Nintendo machine, I'll name two problems with another company's machine.)
I don't think the N-Gage is any threat to the Gameboy. But, if Microsoft or Sony were to do the same thing, Nintendo better get have something to answer. The PSP will probably eat up batteries because it's disc based (last I heard anyway) and moving parts mean suckee suckee. Just the same, Nintendo better be getting something ready because the next generation of portable gaming is coming up... fast.

The mother of all shoWer is on the N-Gage: Sonic! There isn't a platform he hasn't slept with by now, damn mattress. Ive only read negative press on the N-Gage from Penny-Arcade. Im sure it isnt as bad as they want to make it sound, but I just cant see a reason to get one for a long long while.
The GBA had some really good release titles IMO and it was soon followed up by many more good releases. However, it was first with the SP that I actually came to LIKE the platform. Im now gaming on it a lot in periods, currently Tactics Ogre, Yoshi's Island and Bubble Bobble.
Ergonomically the N-Gage looks awful. The idea with having a phone and a games console in one just seems to be a clash of different goals. My mobile is in my pocket. It's dirty with dust and the display is scratched from keys or coins being in the pocket with the mobile. My GBA SP has a snap-together lit and I keep it in a small valise.
If the N-Gage is going to be protected like a GBA SP, Im not sure its going to be a very good phone.
Nokia had the right idea with that MP3 clip, which u buy and attach to ur phone, that was a good idea

They say hardware doesnt sell it self, software does - and in this particular instance games sell hardware. N-Gage hasnt any eye catching release titles. And IF the hardware isnt comfortable to use, Im not very interested.
Im sure gonna give it a try if I see a demo model at some point. So far I make do with a $100 mobile and a $150 gameboy. The ngage is rumored to launch at $299 around here..... some obstacle.
