Spinning Mouse

I can't stand it anymore
Okay, this is somewhat related to NS, but, I got an optical mouse a couple of months ago because my other one was acting weird(non stop double clicking for no reason) but now the optical one is hopping all over my desktop and in fps games the view just spins. It happens sometimes but frequently. Its also a pisser for rts games/comming, it just goes to the edge of the screen and scrolls and I hhave t ofight it back into the middle of the screen. Please help, this is VERY annoying and it is quiet impossible to play.
I was thinking it may have been a driver issue.

BTW, some hardware acted very strange last year when I need to change my mouse, such as the sound in the right ear of my earphones stopped working.

Make sure your mouse mat is a single colour. It acts funny if it has lots of colours.

or alternatively do away with a mouse mat altogether, they aren't really nessecary for ball mice and certainly aren't needed for optical mice.

Mmm, i have old Genius Net Scrolll Optical and it works good on anything except glass, mirror and sometimes bright red, everything else is ok, and that mousel is OLD (lol, in the time i bought it it costet 4 about 3 times more than now), so if you have newer mouse (that costed more than 10$ offcourse) you should not have any problems.

I believe I had the same problem a year ago. My mouse stopped doing it when I changed my mouse mat. But still it has done it a few times (less than 5/year, but still). As you propably know, the mouse mat can't reflect light too much.

But if it still keeps doing it, try not to move the mouse until it stops. For me it helped. Assuming that we are talking about the same problem

yah, the deal with opticals is that you need it to be RATHER uniform colour, smooth, and dull

the colour is semi important but smooth and dull are really the kickers, they will reflect light wierd and screw you up

    oh, and for braging rights:P

I played with optical mice over 10 years ago, back when you had to have a special reflective mouse pad
