I AM SO HAPPY! At first there were rumors of no demo, but I knew that wouldn't be true. Tommorrow! I CAN'T WAIT! I'M GOING TO TEAR MY INTESTINES OUT!

Homeworld 2 looks to be a winner. Not much different from the first, but heck, that was a great game.

I better download it then. If it's as good as it's supposed to be, then it's a must buy.

Even if it's homeworld 1 with new ships and graphics and no innovations...that's still better then C&C: 3000, the rise of the People

    Sierra never updates their website

    [edit] Nor does Relic [/edit]

    My Review of the Demo:

    9/10

It is a good demo, with no visual flaws, almost completely redesigned ships for the Kushan (now called the Hiigarans). The fighters no longer build singularly, instead they built in squadrons, at about 3x the price of the fighters in HW1. This is a good thing as I counted 5 interceptors per squadron for the cost of 3. The muzzle flashes are smooth, not jarring like in HW:C. The graphics are smooth, and all the fighters look streamlined as does the carrier. The A.I. no longer sits on it's laurels and amasses a massive fleet of capital ships, instead it attacks with fighters and platforms. Yes, I said platforms. HW2 has what HW1 was lacking, defense platforms. In the demo you get the Gun Platform which is of moderate health and damage and you get the Ion Beam Defense Platform, which you have to research. That said, building and research is now very different. To build various ships you have to first produce the Module for them. The Mothership has 4 module slots, Fighter, Corvette, Frigate and Capital Ship. It also has a Research Module space, 2 of them, so you build Research Modules instead of Research ships. And research is a little different. Now you get to upgrade individual ships and research ships instead of just the normal HW1 way of researching generic thing and it grants access to X. And research costs money now, not much but just enough so you have to choose *Do I want stronger bombers or faster Interceptors?*

Attached is a screenie of the new sleek carrier

Seems to be just a graphical upgrade and improvements to gameplay...story is interesting though. I know this sounds a bit harsh, but thats how it came off to me. Also homeworld 1 felt really 3-D. The "backrounds" in the demo are like wallpapers slapped on for "atmosphere" get it? *chuckle*

This game doesn't feel as 3-d because you can issue move commands with rightmouseclick. You know longer have to press M to move.

The story is intresting, I plan on laying down my money for a copy of this game, if only because it might be the sleeper hit of the year, again.

[edit] And what do you think Half-Life 2 is promising? a new engine, a new story and some gameplay improvements. [/edit]

Try downloading the demo of the orginal. There's like no taskbar or anything. So far, this seems better to control. I've only played the tutorial so I'll have to see (I know if I play multiplayer everyone will pwn me cuz most probably played the original a lot).

    Edited for making sense.

well I just got the demo.

Keep in mind I missed the first one, so I came to HW2 w/ a fresh perspective.

All I have to say is "OMG!!!!". Simply amazing. Now I'm only upset because I'm on a budget and now I gotta decide between FOUR great games all coming out within a month's time. Not to mention a hectic time schedule :X

    Homeworld 2
    Jedi Academy
    Half-Life 2
    Max Payne 2
    /me drools

Doom, the simplest solution: Trade in old games so you can get HL2 & HW2. Support Sierra. LucasArts has enough money. Vivendi has to sell parts of its self.
