Cutting Down Ns Costs With A Demo?

<div class="IPBDescription">Will NS be more efficient?</div> Well NS is free... BUT is it really 100% free to play? HL costs money... An Internet connection costs money... Electricity costs money... A server may cost money... SO how about realeasing a NS DEMO game, in hopes of cutting down money spent on playing NS? THe demo can have everything in NS 2.0 except the lmg, hmg and gl (for marines) and the skulk, gorge, fade and lerk classes (for ailens)... AND how ahout all the maps remain except ns_nancy and the credit list in the one map with OLLJ's OLLJ name in the rr?

WILL THIS IDEA WORK???


(note NS 2.0 would remain free and so would the DEMO if there is one)

    SO spawining as marine with just a pistol and a knife vs. an ailen that is onos wouldn't cut down electricity and bandwith?

    ( NS 2.0 is free and what if they release a NS 2.0 DEMO that is free too? )

    No, it really wouldnt. It would make the game worse..... No one would want to play with just that stuff. Removing certain things *might* improve, but I seriously doubt it. Yes, this is a stupid thread.....

Besides, making an NS Demo to serve the aforementioned purpose would mean making it run standalone from HL. With the legal and engine-licensing-cost constraints on something like that, I'd think the team would want to ensure a standalone <i>full</i> NS first.
