I use lots of ammo on long trips far away from base, and my kill/death ratio proves it's worth it. So I will indeed hump the armory when I need to thankyouverymuch. If something is under attack of course, I'll go right there without getting ammo. But sending me accross the map just to run out of ammo and run around knifing is a complete waste.
if an onos is attacking your base I surely dobut you need 300 ammo for lmg and 40 for pistol honestly, if its a redeem onos he will redeem after 20 of your shots since probably a lot of rines are standing in base shooting at him also and if he is a regeneration onos or carapace you still dont need that much ammo since he will prolly die before you reload or escaped. its only good humping the armory when your going for a long trip but in emergency cases its just foolish

Early game when there's no threat, I will shoot about 600 lmg bullets before dying.
Late game, only usually about 50/100 bullets.
I won't hump the armoury if there's something urgent that needs attention, but if there isn't anything I will load up on full ammo early game, because I will use it all 9/10 times.

Yea, it's more a case of take what you're realistically gonna need as a motto, full armoury usage = bad is right maybe 85% of the time, but being told "ffs why are you using the armoury nooblet" when there is nothing under attack and you're about to take on an OC wall the slow way wit another guy is just plain pesky rather than helpfull
P.S Isn't this around in an FAQ yet? do we need a new post every day?
Armories need lovin' too
I never take more than 50/150 for my lmg and 10/20 for my pistol. That's when nothing is under attack. In the best of situations I almost never get to 0/0 on any gun. Only weapon i EVER consider getting full ammo for is a GL, but even then i somehow end up asking for ammo from the comm.
There are only three situation that I'll use the armory in these days.
1. I'm defending base and there's a break between alien waves. 2. The commander wants us to get all prepped up before making a push for something. 3. My gun is completely out of ammo and I can make it to an armory and back fairly quickly.
Cases 1 & 2 I'll go for a full load. Case 3, I'll do 50/100 LMG and 10/30 pistol.
If I get a grenade launcher, I'll usually trade it with whoever says they're good at using the thing. I usually blow myself up with it.
Good idea.. now if only we could get marines to stop waiting around the base waiting for weapons and equipment, marines would be twice as good as they are now!
someone said he gives his GL away to someone else so he doesn't blow himself up. that made me think, how come Grenades don't hurt teammates but they hurt yourself. they are some kind of nano explosion that doesn't go through teammates and only bad guys, how come you don't get the same protection, from a storyline reasoning, not gameplay balance.

As Rat has pointed out numerous times, there's a "back" button for a reason.
As for me, I usually fill up to 50/150, 10/30 (it works out that way with the quickswitch filling), and go from there. If I'm owning the aliens, I usually fill all the way up, but if I'm getting owned, I will stick with the 50/150, 10/30 deal or maybe less. Also, I don't worry about ammo if something needs immediate attention, I go and save it (or die trying) and then worry about ammo then. If I'm anything but vanilla (shotty, GL, hmg) I ALWAYS fill up, no matter what. The res investment made by the comm is worth the time investment made by me.
Early game I go through a hella lot of bullets because I'm usually shooting out OCs, taking out skulks, shooting where I think sensory chambers might be (less so nowadays).
If our locked down hive is under attack and I just respawned... screw the ammo, I won't live long enough to probably use my entire second clip.
I h8 people who always get 50/250 I h8 people who always say "soandso amount is always best."
There IS strategy in this game. When you decide not to fill up in ammo, remember that you MIGHT later be asking the Comm to drop ammo for you, and thus, eating away at precious resources. Likewise, there might be times where waiting that extra time to fill up will make you lose an entire outpost and cost your team not only a whole bunch of rez, but perhaps the game.
There are going to be times when you'll need 50 and when you'll need 250. It varies. Most marines aren't that smart though, unfortunately, and will always fill up entirely when it isn't necessary. Comm might be saying "GET YOUR FAT **** THROUGH THAT PHASE GATE!!!!!!!!!!" and marines would be filling up to 250 ammo first.
It is completely ridiculous. Fill up to 250 only when there are no emergencies and when you will be away from base without armory for a while (new hive being built perhaps). Otherwise, DON'T get more than 100 ever! Also, another pet peeve of mine, DON'T STAND AROUND IN BASE WAITING FOR STUFF! There could be things you could be doing instead of waiting! Have a little faith in your comm to give you equipment when it is available. It might surprise you that you're more likely to get equipment if you show you deserve the equipment.
You know what I tire of? Armoury humping accusations to the point of EXCESSIVE GRIEVING.
If a marine doesn't heed the all important call of "GET THROUGH PG NOW!" by the COMM what makes you think he'll listen to you rant, rave, filling the screen with your inane text about armoury humpers and how much they are n00bs.
As someone wisely pointed out, how much ammo you need is based on the situation.
