One month to release(So they say)
Half-life two will very soon be gracing many of our computers hard-disks. Who here will buy it? Who here won't? Who here will quit NS to be addicted to it? Or will you play both equally.
For me, I am getting it the instant that I can. No matter the cost I WILL HAVE THAT GAME. I won't quit NS at all, I love this game to much. Especially if HL2 runs like pew on my machine. At first I will be busy addicting myself to HL2, till the OMGS AND HOLY CRAPS die down and its just another game I enjoy.

Need a new Gfx card and a new hard drive.
I will upgrade my PC soon, partly for Halflife 2, partly for the fact that I just need the upgrade, and that 512 mb stick of ddr ram I've had my eye on would help my comp greatly (I currently only have 256 mb ddr, which isn't bad, but its not great either).
And I'm sure I'll still be playing NS after HL2 is released. If getting copies of both Battlefield 1942 and Unreal Tournament 2003 for last christmas couldn't stop me from playing NS, nothing can.
HL2 or bust.
I'm not all that excited, I'm anxiously waiting the day I turn from boy into monkey.
OMG no crap, Call of duty runs exceptionally well for me. It set everything to max. I've got 1.3/512/Geforce4ti4200 128 w/8x. You?

Its the best engine I've ever played on. its given me thousands of hours of entertainment
P4 1.6/639 SDRAM/GeForce 2 32 megs and I set everything on high also (800x600). I didn't even notice a stutter.
Really hope it has some good gameplay and highly moddable.
Also, I have a feeling that the Half-Life engine isn't going to die. Not for a long while. It might even become freeware. Including it in STEAM and such.
That said, I don't think ANYONE will be able to play HL2 on maximum settings for a while.
When HL1 came out, 800mhz computers didn't exist
As I understand it, because of it's scalability, it will be able to take advantage of increased processing power that we don't yet have. Obviously this only to an extent, but It's cool nonetheless.

My pc is just a scratch off Optimum for the HL2 specs, and its not even top-o-the line anymore, close, but not quite there. That said, there are some pc's that can run HL2 with the top specs, and not melt into a heap. I think you're kinda over-glorifying just how fantastic HL2 will look, and run...

very true, but if you look at it this way, HL1 is based off the Quake 1 Engine.
Sure its heavily modified but doesn't that seem just a little OLD?
Its time we/I move on.
system1:
asus p4t533-c mobo
P4 2.4 (533)
512 pc 1066 rdram
ASUS V9280 GeForce 4 Ti4200-8X
Audigy2 Platinum (retail)
system2:
asus p4t533-c mobo
P4 2.2 (533)
512 pc 1066 rdram
GeForce 2 V7100 Series (I think, its been a while since I cracked it open)
Audigy Platinum (OEM)
it should run ok on both, I might just get the FX5900 for system 1 and drop the Geforce 4 into system 2, I hate having a geforce 2 in the house.. makes me feel inferior in some way

Its might seem old to you, but nothing has come out since that could match its feel (physics) I'll always love it, I'll frame the box and the CD and hang it on my wall.
like this
Stated recently at some kind of damn convention.
My memory is crap - so, visit www.halflife2.net - goto the forums and rejoice.
I've seen the box art... it's all silver and stuff... it could have been changed. Also, that looks to thin for a box.
EDIT that is of course if i dont have 100s of people sleeping out the night b4 best buy and all the other vid stores are open, if so ill have to get my pet onos that i wished for to devour them
Don't forget that many games released in america have different box art than that from a PAL box.
