Ya dont see the lot of 'em.
There are many animations which I have never seen in NS. Like the skulk bite, parasite, leap, and xenocide ability. The swimming animations I havnt seen in action yet, but I havnt seen a lot of swimming either. The onos's gore and devour...and charge (Which really looks like hes humping something, I couldnt stop laughing ).

Were these animations removed for a reason?

Opps, I made two posts about the same thing...opps...

I refreashd my browser, but with my crappy cable internet (I'm getting the modem replaced sunday) it just used a cookie instead of really refreashing it. Dumb cable.

    Use this one instead...

    open a model
    click on Sequence
    Open the drop down menu
choose your animation and stare in wonderment with a tasty mint

I've seen the skulk bite but that's about it. All that really happens is the mouth moves and you have to be LOOKing right at the mouth to notice it...

I believe it's down to limitations in HL's engine. Sure, the models can have all these fancy attack animations, but HL can only move certain bones in attack anims.

That's a badly worded and possibly inaccurate explanation, but it's close to what one of the devs posted a long time ago in response to me asking about these animations in the modelling forum last year.

It is inacurate. All you gotta do is tell it to play "x" animation when the person is attacking with "x" weapon. I don't see why it wouldn't work... Then again I could be inacurate too.

Its because during an attack it plays the upperbody animation while the lower body plays the running, walk or idle animations. Most of the aliens don't have upperbodies to animate. Its why you can see the animation for the fade or the various custom models like the Ultralisk but not on the default ones. I think they managed to trick the engine into moving the mouth with bone controllers on the skulk.

I see. That's probably why i couldn't get the leap animation to replace the bite animation very well. I wanted to see skulks ripping at the marines, not just running around them, but ingame, the skulk kinda moves it's arms, but barely
