O. m. g.
I just got this game. I heard there were a lot of problems with the code, but it ran like a dream on my computer - hooray for recently-reformatted PCs! Anyway, I started it up... it's amazing. The animations are beautiful, the graphics flawless... I ended up just driving around for 15 minutes, listening to the radio!

Hell, when I play, I stop at red lights... at one point, I tried to turn on my turn signal.

This game is beautiful, it plays amazingly, I love it.

So you finally discovered one of the gods of games.

Yeah, I love this game, it's so great, and so many small side missions. Plus: The taxi driver mode! It is really fun to just drive around and take people from one point to another.
But I don't stop at red lights

A quick tip for you: find all the hidden packages at one island before you make it to the next...

If anyone wants a hint about what the next game will be like, check out this. Hopefully it will have multiplayer.

this was the last GTA on the PC
sony(YUK) bought the lincence the new gta 4 will only be on the PS2 so again no multiplayer.

coil most of the complains about gta3 are the lack of multiplayer, slow fps becouse of directX,no openGl, stupid AI, not that smart cops, cars disabpear like in the old psx versions if you loose sight of them, un realistic car explotions, some objects are glued to the ground(like boxes) is you wrek ur car on it

I showed an article for the PC to my cousin, who has gotten through the mission, he could tell me where every building was, even though this picture was only 63x70 pixels! I was amazed when I first saw this game. It truly is a masterpiece.

Sony bought the license to make it console exclusive but the PC is a different matter so a PC version of all future GTA versions is totally plausible.

As for there being no multiplayer, have you not heard of Final Fantasy XI. A property as hot as GTA is not something Sony will want to pass up on as a multiplayer version will have incredible draw, just the kind of thing Sony wants to rub in the eyes of Microsoft and there online Xbox titles.

If theres no mp in Vice City (which I still feel has the faint whiff of add-on about it) it'll come ...

I dunno. Personally, GTA3 got very repetitive and boring. I needed to get one of those weapons/car stats modifiers to get me to keep playing. There's nothing like a taxi-cab that will litterally mow through traffic.

Yeah, GTAIII is indeed a very good game, i got mine way back last year for PS2, i beat it once, and was going for 100% but i never had the will to do it after i couldn't find the 18 packeges i needed, i had 82. Maybe ill start playing again

Blow cars up and blow people up, fun... for about 30 minutes. But then you can do some missions which revolve around blowing up cars and blowing up people... But don't get me wrong, there's a load of stuff to do! like collecting 100 hidden packages, how's that for excitement?

It bored me to death, sorry. This is just a 3d version of a game I've played through twice before.

BTW: The PS2 also has [online] mutliplayer capability, the decision for not multiplayer wasn't because of the inital release platform.

I hope they make vice city to be somewhat like the movie SCARFACE. that would rock :D then again, gta3 has a lot of scarface elements in it too.

oh and if they actually have rock/metal bands on the radio in vice city, then hooray. i'm tired of all this "42 stations of rap and one talk show" radio stuff heh.

I only recall 1, maybe 2 stations of rap. There was a classical music station, an 80s music station, and at least 3 pop stations, too.

I have GTA3 for my PS2, and if you look in the back of the manual where it has music credits, all of the songs on Flashback FM (the '80s station) are from Scarface.

"Football teaches you good wholesome American values like taking other people's land by force, and wearing tight pants while you do it."

I got GTA3 on the PC a litte while back and there are a few framerate problems, but on the whole, it's great. Definately a top 10 game of all time.

GTA3 is definitely in the top 10 games of all time.

If you haven't yet you should probably find the dune buggy. It's got an annoying motor, it's steering is all messed up, but it's fast. It's sort of shiny..ooooo. If you don't know where it is all I remember (because I haven't played mine in a while). It's in the first city near the center somewhere between some of the hours around dusk. Yeah I know I'm alot of help but I can only do so much.

To get the dune buggy: after you get to the second island (Fort Staunton), go back to Portland and at the Diablos park there is the dune buggy at a certain time of the day that I can't remember. I could be of more help but I'm to lazy to go find out the exact time.

I bought GTA 3 the day of its release on PS2, not cause of the hype surrounding it, but because of the fact that I liked GTA and GTA 2. If you like GTA 3, I suggest checking out 1 and 2.

Meh, I don't like GTA3 all that much. It runs like a two legged moose on my AMD 1.2ghz T-Bird with Geforce 2 GTS 32meg and 256 meg of ram. I saw it as basicially a 3D version of the first two, of which I played non-stop for hours. If it ran better I might have thought better of it but I'm not very impressed. The best bit is the talkback radio.

I own the entire GTA series on the Playstation consoles. That even includes the GTA London 1969 expansion.
