<div class="IPBDescription">I just wanna know.</div>Personally, I came into contact with it early. Before the first movie came out, I saw a link to it on some site. Maybe PHL, not sure . . Either way, I looked at it, thought it was cool, but this was early early in developement. I forgot about it for a while and became a DOD fanatic. Than, one day, I on a whim remembered natural-selection.org. I typed it in, and Huzzah! New stuff. About a year or a half a year had passed since I had last checked. I joined the forums (first forum I ever joined, sigh) and, ta da. End of my exciting story. . .

I found out about NS around October or November of 2001. I saw some screenies either on Planet Half-life or the Valve ERC. (Probably both, although VERC's news posts were a bit more in-depth.) I thought the maps looked awesome, and I got a warm welcome in IRC for a while, so I signed up for the forums <img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'>

Valve ERC covered the NSTR releases and had a lot of praise for NS, and I followed a link to ns.org from there at the end of 2001. Came back a few months later, and... you get the idea.

i just remember my brother telling me about it, so i went to the site and looked at it and then a couple weeks later the movie with the l337 weather effects and stuff came out. so i dont know how long ago that was, i didnt register then tho...dont know why <img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/confused.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt='???'> ARG i just looked at the members list and i had registered April 2002 and i just forgot my PW no wonder i couldnt have my reg name...dangit

I was an Existence man when I remember Crinity pimping it much in the forums.I ignored it.
I saw screens of his map for NS on PHL soon after.They were a bit blurry. I ignored it.
I saw some new screens on PHL and thought "Damn, those look nice! And I remember that name from somewhere too..." clicked the link, and here I am.:D

a friend told me about this mod on october 2001 i saw it, and i loved the idea, but there werent many screens but i fell in love with the game idea..... so i joined the forums as dark_predator or somthin like that....... but i didnt posted a lot, then i thought about forgettin this mod, and come back after some time to avoid gettin mad while i waited for the release....... but i couldnt avoid ns for long.... so i came back on december.... saw some new screenies and then i realized this was goin to be big..... so i totally lost contact with the mod coz i was really excited after watchin the screenies.... and now, after all this time, i heard that ns was gettin close to the release, so in june of 2002 i came back and this looked even cooler and now i cant forget this mod, and i joined the community and now im prayin for the release <img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':p'>

I saw Relic's article on using additive brushes with texture lighting. and in it he mentioned that he was using the tecnique in one of his maps, ns_Bast. The map looked really purty so i did a bit of looking. I think that was back in october. then I got bored because the site never got updated.

Around my birthday (Early March) i saw a link in my favourites folder. and went and joined the forums

I think that was Mart dressed up as NS. He does like to dress up as women, games, and cartoon characters from time to time.

I was first exposed to it a very long time ago but forget how. I looked at the site, shruged ( At that time I could not logg too many hours in the computer, there was a leach on it all the time ) then saw an article in PC Gamer saying "These are four cool HL mods" It listed CS (ick) DOD (yay) NS (woohoo&#33<img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=';)'> and Existence. I looked at it, then decided to go to the site. About 2 weeks later I was in Computer Apps class. I got bored, went to the site, saw a link to rr.org and read. After that read, I was addicted.

seen NS first on PHL and i decided to check it out.
then there was nothing to to @ NS the IRC channel still was less than 35 ppl. so i came back 3 weeks later and joined the IRC channel 2 weeks after that i joined the forums

I saw a short blurb on PHL in June 2001, saying that NSes "backstory has been updated.". The idea of a <i>story</i> behind a <i>mod</i> was something absolutely unexpected (remember what mods were announced around summer 2001...), so I followed the link.
The writing was good, the design documents interesting, so I posted on the forums. Haven't managed not to visit the forums for longer than a week since then.

Hmm, I heard about NS on some TFC clan's forums. I was posting about Wizard Wars and someone replied with info about NS, I checked out ns.org, read up a lot, watched the movie, looked at a bunch of screenies on rr.org and was hooked. Well, I still consider myself a newbie. I signed up in early-mid April or so.

Hmm. Back in about February or so, I caught a link to a post in the mapping forums from Ken Bank's page. I was scared off by the level of professionalism the mod showed in the mapping forums, I was a newbie mapper and at the time it didn't seem like that friendly of a place for people of my skill level. Everyone talking about plane usage and Ken's excellent use of spotlights and such.
I left, I'm not even sure if I checked out anything about the mod besides the mapping forums.

I knew I was starting to get tired of the #dod community in about late March or so, and when I noticed the April Fools post about "Natural Selection decides to drop Aliens" and realized I had never really checked out this mod that "had aliens." As I looked through all the faqs and found out about the RTS style play and all, I was hooked. I decided to hang out in the IRC room, downloaded the NSTR, started a bit of mapping (not very good mapping of course) and then a few days later decided to sign up for the forums.

at the time, i didn't really care... just thought, oh well, another mod to add to my collection, but now, i know i was wrong, i've never anticipated the release of ANYTHING before in my entire life... i even had 2 dreams of it being released and playing it... shouldn't start on that though, but that's where i found out about this mod

Its been so long!...it was almost back in the beggining...i was looking for a new challenge....suddenly this weird name showed up on my screen Natural Selection..sounded cool so i went in and looked a little...funny looking but FAR from done...so i bookmarked it...and forgot all about..then i found the page again..this time they where' allready way over done (if you know what i mean, most mods are 2 years of half their mod done...) so i book marked it and decide to return...and i did...cause im here now!

I honestly can't remember how I found NS. I signed up for the forums in early November 2001. It may have been a feature on the Valve mod expo or something that caught my attention. I wasn't a regular of PHL so it's not likely I saw it there.

Well i found out about ns.org about a month ago when i was talking to comprox and he said "well im going to play my NS test" i said "whats that" gave me a link followed and found it a cool mod with great detailed maps.

i cmae across it in one of the pictures (pehaps the lvl5?) was posted at planet half life a day or so b4 i registered (during which i read the FAQs like a good lil boy :-p ) so what ever post was around then thats what caught me, using phl archive system, i could find the exact thing, but im too lazy
