Me and some of the other guys in our clan have been getting hit a little hard with bad karma the last few weeks. Helping little old ladies across the street doesn't seem to be cutting it. I got a speeding ticket last thursday.
Anyway, in order to set the balance right, and keep the chain letters down to a minimum, we've decided to open up one of our servers a week strictly to newbies. Every Tuesday, at 7pm PST me or one of the other guys with a surfiet of bad luck will be there as an admin, to answer any questions you guys have regarding NS and to ensure fun and fair play.
Check out the "Pick Up Games" section of this forum each monday for a current announcement. It'll tell you the when, the where and how much good karma to bring to the server.
Hope to see you guys soon! And if you happen to meet the bodhisattva, put a good word in for me eh?

anyhoo, yes, so, this Tues and Thurs, 7pm PST, barring RL issues and events, we'll have a nice comm session, getting familiar with the interface and stuff. no real games though.

soo, if you are on EST, soo, ontario, new york, ohio, that sorta thing, just count 3 hours FORWARD..
so 7pm PST is actually 10pm EST.
we are, well, i am quite flexible on this. if i'm on IRC, just ask for a little session. for a full rundown, or just on a few niggling questions that got you stumped. our IRC chan is #oldfogies on gamesnet EAST. usually weekends late at night or afternoons, or weekdays at night.
i am by NO means a uber leet comm or anything, but i know the basics of the interface and such, and some tricks on trying to keep pub rines in line.

Started as aliens and got some good tutoring from Niteowl on the basic building and upgrading, and later on was switched to the Marine team. It seemed to me that the alien side is easier to learn than the Marine side. I was having trouble finding the waypoints on the screen, but finally saw the intensified blue circle on the sacreen where to go. Sorry if I was sluggish in getting there. Got to learn the paths in the map !!! Are the waypoint assignments displayed in the overhead map? Saw the 'goto' ? arrow (upper right corner) on the map. Is that the direction to head for?
Definately have to try this again. Got somewhat overwhelmmed by all the screen information and think I have to try practiceing a little bit more offline to get used to it, but I'll be back again (oh, no!).
