Question About Commander Mode

First my mic doesnt seem to work on my mouse when im comm, do i need to use something on my keyboard just while im comm?

also, is there any key i can use other than ctrl to slect groups, can i bind select group to something else

You cant talk with mouse buttons in comm mode.
Bind a second key to it.
Select groups is whatever you bind to your crouch key, you can give that 2 keys, too.

But everything within q-r a-f y-v is reserved in comm mode and gets its binds ignored.

I use button 3 for voicecom, and once when I was in the chair I used it and asked if people could hear me, and they claimed they did.
In 1.04 they couldn't, though.

I use the alt key aswell, but i've never hit the windows key. My biggedt problem is i hit alt start talking and then press tab to check the scoreboard. Thats caused me to get a connection timeout a number of times because of the time it takes to unload ns upload ie and then do it ll agian.

get a program called "I hate this key" w/out quotes if u want u can get the deluxe trial or the freeware one..

try winkey toggle.
Free, and it just stops you from hitting the windows key by itself.

if you haven't tried before, I highly recommend running NS in a window (if your hardware can support it).

just add -w to the command line. I run in 800x600.. very nice not to have to worry about popups, winkey, IMs, or anything else killing my game, or atleast my sound. <img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif'>

There's no need to take the windows keys off your keyboard, you can just download one of the many programs that disables them and just turn it on before you play.

ok just to clairfy, i have crouch bound to mouse 2, so when i hit it, i can make groups.

and, i can still use left control for voice comm when in the chair. (its outa they way, and its really the only thing my pinkie gets to hit, scoreboard is on my mouse)

and i can also fully extend my finger without hitting other keys

most annoying key problem i came accross was crouching in a corner, going to hit the tild to do a command and hitting the esc key by accident if i was in a hurry.

this activates the windows key function btw if your interested, good for keyboards that dont have a windows key and you dont use the mouse for general windows

Unless you rebind the commander hotkeys (in Customize, Advanced Options, page two).
