We Need New Maps!

<div class="IPBDescription">Clients asking for new maps.....</div> Our community loves new maps. Problem is there are not many besides ns_thief4 that run well with NS 2.0. So if you have a map that WORKS under 2.0 please post it here. All maps will be run on our server and if we like them added to our map cycle!

I know Elite Guard has all the maps, but most of them just run like cr#p. WE NEED NEW MAPS!

    I believe that ns_Hydrosity has already been released, and ns_Mystic and ns_Thea are both close to completion. Thats a whole load of serious maps about to be released, which is never a bad thing.

    Cliffhanger is OK, alot of small mistakes but fun to play. Not good enough for the rotation though,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,sorry. Still not a bad map!

    I'm working on a map, and its around the same level as the official ones in my humble opinion (and it isn't any of that "funmap" bilge, its a serious map.) I dunno when it'll be done, though, I just started working on this one a week ago, when I picked up VHE for the first time in months, with the desire to finally put my mapping, texturing and modeling skills to good use and create the ultimate NS map. I'm about 70% done Marine Start, with the rest of the map in a primordial state but looking promising.

    Erias, make sure you get it playtested regularly once it's playable, to work out problems with gameplay imbalance and the like. The Nano servers regularly do private map PTs for map authors with the help of EC/ECN and their groupies.

    Asraniel, just a minor suggestion, how about having the link in your sig go to a page with screenshots of napo and then a dl link. I just like to see what i'm dling before I actually do.

    I don't think all 1.0x maps are necessarily unplayable with 2.0, at least I tried evolving to onos on a few of them and didn't get stuck. Whether they are balanced is another issue.

    If you want funmaps, <a href='http://nsworld.ns-central.co.uk/Map.php?UniqueID=197' target='_blank'>Warshaft 1.2</a> seems to work <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo--> . There is just one new bug with the info_locations, but thats not too important on this map. I will probably release a new version soon anyway.

    .res file?? Why? I don't want to hijack the thread or be public flamed for my n00bish ignorance so if it's a long answer could you just PM me a clue?

    Any and all servers will just download the .bsp file of a map to the client. Any other files, .wav, .tga. spr..ect. must have the full path and name included in a .res file so the server knows which files to download to the client for the map.

    If your map has a .wav file and a minimap ".spr" included, your .res file would read like this:

    sounds/mymap.wav
    sprites/minimaps/mymap.spr

    Hope this helps as it saves us Server ops alot of time if a .res file is included with multiple file maps.

    NOTE: The .bsp should NOT be included in the .res file. If it is, it will force the client to download it twice.
