<div class="IPBDescription">2 decent pix this time</div>hey fellas...I got sick of doing only the layout, so i took a break from that and fleshed out the turbine room...I also gave 4 pix to monsieur evil to post on both RR and PHL so keep your eyes pealed.
anyways, r_speeds max at 650 and stay significantly lower most of the time...their is a lot of commotion in this room (sounds, lights, fans, turbine, holograms) giving the advantage to the aliens (it's close to their hive).
The coolest aspect which you can't tell from the pix is that the "Danger" hologram literally "pops" up as you get close to the rail...i used a func_presence and A LOT of entity work to do this and the effect is really cool.
[EDIT] In fact, it's so cool, i HAVE to show you guys...you need the divx codec to watch it and its about 1.1MB d/l. Please excuse the crappy quality...i did it using my webcam

Secondly...Cliff's responsible for the phat looking turbine textures and some of the wall/utility textures...give my boy some props people...he makes anything look good <!--emo&:)--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'><!--endemo-->.
<b>PLEASE READ:</b> I need help with a particle system...i cant get it to work...i just can't see it in game...i've tried almost every different parameter i can think of and nothing. I've read all the other suggestions on this forum and none seem to fix it. It doesn't crash HL, it's definately there (i can see it under listps), but i don't actually "see" it.

on the particle system side of things, make sure you've got "start on" ticked, you probably do but sometime ya just plain forget about it.

in the second pic, your floor and ceiling look wrong somehow. it might be the fact that you used floor textures for both, and also i dont think theyre scaled down at all...
the turbine is really cool, and i love the greeness that you have as a background to it. but i think the danger hologram sign texture doesnt fit. it looks kinda like a cover of a textbook about computers from the beginning of the 80s, too old school for NS perhaps.
with a different texture i think it would look wonderful

Seems to have some nice effects and nice atmosphere, looking good. Only thing i don't really like is the floor texture you used in that second pic, seems a bit stretched.
/me is suddenly interested in fixing that func_rotating bug that Badmofo reported
Btw, if anyone is having problems playing the movie, try downloading the DIVX player (www.divx.com) then either browsing for the movie using The Playa, or renaming it to be a .divx at the end and double-clicking it.

And I also want that map.
Man the bad quality acctually makes it look even better...looks like its a vid of a players shoulder cam, like on Aliens.
And the generator looks amazing, as do the holograms, nice effect with the popups.

My motherboard crashed today so i was forced to day to buy a new one.
And i also bought a new computer chassi as the old was bad overheated the cpu as the transformator was yust above the cpu at the old.
My intrest with computers yust costs money and no fun right now it sucks.
And the new chassi is great but now do i have to listen to the crappy noisy cpu fan.
So i will probably have to buy an new cpu fan also later this week.

My only problem is that the first picture might be a little too dark in the foreground. I notice the bright lights effect in the darkness, but there's no ambient light being cast by them (well, they'd only give off a little bit, but still enough to dimly light the console they're on, I guess).

You think you have it tough? I have a <b>desk fan</b> tied to the side of my open case with a <b>shoelace</b>!
Without the fan on, my amd t/bird 1.2ghz runs at 75 deg c, with the fan, it runs at about 62. Btw, my room temp is about 35 most of the time.
I had better add some on topic comments. That spinning generator looks COOL!! I like the texture of those holograms, very attention grabbing, which is what warning signs are supposed to so. I like the green background too. You could add a trigger_random to controll things arcing from the generator.

Could you imagine having to move through that area as a marine (damn that commander) and realising an alien is with you in there? Gives me goosebumps.
This is my first post on the NS forums, and I just wanted to say the following:
a) This game looks amazing for HL, I wonder if anyone has approached the NS team and asked to go commercial?
b) The map shots I see are fantastic.
c) As a community, you guys all seem really laid back and very cool.

there was no sound in the avi - that was the sound of my desk fan cooling my PC and my fingers typing away. The sounds in game are actually a lot more intense...a "beeyoooop" every time the hologram pops up, the ambient sounds of the turbine and the fan. computer talk...groaning underground architecture...and the zap of the electrical archs coming off the turbine (if you look close in the AVI, you can catch one in the bottom left corner) - and i already got a trigger_random controlling the electrical archs...but thanks for the tip <!--emo&:)--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'><!--endemo-->.

As for the pics and movie, they were great. I am not a mapper so i cant really grade it(I just play em <!--emo&:p--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':p'><!--endemo-->) But everyone looks good but that darn dark corner. But everythings back to normal now as the new motherboard rox.
