Could be worse. You could have tendonitis in both hands thanks to never warming up properly when playing guitar. Ouchies.

basically is when you pull yer wrist muscles or do something bad to em and it mainly happens from instrumenst and typing... massive pain
  • BigMadSteveBigMadSteve Join Date: 2003-02-12 Member: 13472Members
Isn't that RSI? Or is RSI just to do with the bones?

And what exactly have you been doing with your wrist to bring on this injury? <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo-->

Carpal tunnel is a internal swelling in the wrist caused my repitive movement, such as typing or playing games. the swelling occurs in the carpal tunnel (imagine that) where a tendon and several nerves run, the swelling cause the nerves to irritate and cause pain. However it can get much worse than this, if you ignore the pain and continue to play the swelling can get worse, to the point where it can cause PERMANET damage to the nerves in your hand, this can lead to loss of feeling and even movement in your hands, so if your wrist are hurting take a break.

Carpal Tunnel ... man there isn't anything in this world you can do without paying a consequence for it.

Can't Carpal Tunnel be prevented by wearing Copper Bracelets?
  • ZelZel Join Date: 2003-01-27 Member: 12861Members
it can be prevented if you keep yer wrists perfectly flat, and that means buying an ergonomic keyboard and wrist supporter, it feels awkward, but it reduces the strain on your tendons.

    Off-Topic, please.

Anyway, yeah that sucks. I heard somewhere that if you hold your mouse incorrectly it can cause some serious pain, too. I use a wrist-comforting thing, so I have no worries <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo-->.

    OUCH!!!
i have a thing wrong with my wrist.
its not Carpal Tunnel, but it will hinder me from playing games sometimes.
I got it from lifting weights and doing push ups <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo-->
when i bend my wrist back the tendons that run down your wrist, get grabbed and pinched by the bones. <!--emo&:(--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/sad.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='sad.gif'><!--endemo-->
it can hurt really really bad.
sometimes my hand will go numb, feels like im holding onto a tazer pumping high voltage into my hands.
thats when i cant play. and thats when it most sucks. <!--emo&:(--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/sad.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='sad.gif'><!--endemo-->

Not more than using a pair of red Wellingtons in a thunder storm will protect you from lightning.

Regular breaks where you excercise your arms and fingers, hands will help too. It's the endless hours of strain that damages you. Put in breaks once per hour or so.

I actually got sore fingers from playing WASD-games and typing at work at one period. Then I took 14 days off and just read books.

    ARGH!
I don't know if I have carpal tunnel or arthritis.

If you hold up your left hand, the lower right corner of the hand (draw a straight line down from your pinky & ring finger)... that's where I am getting severe acheage. I went to web md and it said carpal tunnel hurts a different part of the hand. I am having a bit of trouble gripping sometimes, and the aching... man...

I have a bad case of RSI on my left hand. I'm too stubborn to quit playing games/typing, some days it's fading, other days it hurts like hell, and it won't fade unless I stop typing for 2 months straight, and there's no chance in hell I'm doing that (It isn't cause of a bad position, my hands are positioned fine, I saw a specialist for this <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo-->), just be happy that it'll fade soon. <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo-->

I used to get Carpal tunnel with Diablo 2. Then I switched to Fury so I had to click less.

I feel for you man, my mother had to have surgery done on both hands to get rid of Carpal Tunnel's.
