1.04 Vs 2.0

alien vs marine
When I played 1.04, marines were almost always stacked and they were the best team, they could win very easily with a 2 hive-lockdown. this easy victory made it almost boring to play as them more often than not. Being alien made the game much more interesting, we learned to work together to break lockdowns and when we did win, it was a big deal!

Now in 2.0 I started off playing aliens but i soon noticed its so easy to win now,. Aliens are always stacked again opposite of 1.04. its the same easy win the marines had in 1.04---reversed. I started to get bored with them so I tried marines, at first I was losing every game because I was so inexperienced. I became a better aimer now and I started comming and now I can pull off some wins as marines. Its very rewarding to command a game to victory from the start. From all you so called 'good' players who play alien exclusively, were you always alien players? or did you just pick up on that the alien side is better so you always play for the easy win? 1.04 the good players always stacked marines. in 2.0 good players always stack aliens. its just not fair to the rest of the players on the server when you got an unbalanced game with good players team stacking the most powerful side. if anything, it should be the other way around.

Yep, I can't think of a time since 1.03 when I actually chose a team...

Yes 1.04 was great fun as aliens....... so exciting running around for 95 percent of the game as a skulk. If the marines didn't actually let you get a second hive up and go fade (this is the 5 percent of the game you spend as a non skulk before you win do to the overpowered 1.04 fade) then you ended up spending 100 percent of the game as a skulk. w00t!!

Why would anyone want to play on a team that they were almost guaranteed to lose on? Sure it might be more sporting to go marines if your good, but it is never fun to lose no mater how sporting you are.

its not fun to have a guaranteed win either because all the good people always pick aliens, what if all you guys went marine instead, you could still win.

It's funner to have a guaranteed win that a guaranteed loss, but theoretical yes your right. If all the good players are on marines and all the bad players on aliens marines might win..... but they will probably end of looseing anyway if their happens to be a few average players on the aliens team.

When good players stack 'rines, 'rines win.

As a rule I swap every round. My friend [p4]Samwise and I like to play on the same team, so I avoid using auto.

Well im not an amazing player but i can hold my own. I go aliens so often because they're much more fun. I've always gone aliens a bit more than marines even in 1.0x. The reason i think their so good is that u get a much faaster paced and overall exciting game.

Yes your right, kind of sad that it takes team stackage of good players for marines to win.

Actually, I still see marine stacking, however, random occasionally pits me on the marine team.

youd be surprised how hard mine lock downs were to pull off, and pretty much nothing else worked cept maybe a jp lockdown.

I prefer playing aliens because 'rines are pretty boring to play, i've been shooting nastys in all my gaming, its nice to eat the good guys for a change, but then i wont ever play aliens twice in a row unless teams are stacked, i alternate every game.

I Disagree with that statement. I try to have fun with the game even losing. You can still make it fun. I mean its not like anything is at stake. I have to say its much more fun to be losing as marine than alien. Atleast with marine you still have to option of big guns. If you are getting stomped as alien you dont have enough res to do much except rush out and die.

People still like to play 'rines because they know if they lose they can still hold up the game till eternities' end and get a lot of kills in the process.

ive always Like the marines side better.. since ive come from the 98' game of battlezone commanding was just part of the game.. naturally it carried over, but 2.0 has become the biggest disapointment.. i cant get over thinking how the masses of 2.0 ns first timers would never know ns was better before and they either dont see the starkyness of a 1 shot kill onos, compaired to something you could fend off in past patchs.. i feel pretty cheated and ive stayed marine every single game since 2.0 came out.. mind you becuase of 2.0 i stoped playing it all together and go to something worth time.. like battlefield.. i hope flarya considers that devour mighthave been a good idea on paper.. but in the real games there is no longer a point to play any more

I almost exclusively play alien. I used to play marine in 1.04, but when 2.0 was coming closer, I swapped aliens to get skulk experience for the slaughter to come (). Sometimes I go marines, but only when I know there are some really skilled players so I know we have a theoretical chance to win. It's not very enjoyable to play a 2-hour, inefficient stalemate with newbies who don't realize obvious strategies even if I tell them. I don't like the large dependance for the commander either: if one of those 80% newbies happens to hop in the chair, you're pretty much quaranteed to lose even if you do your damn best. With aliens it's a lot easier since you can take any necessary class and try to do all the important stuff yourself. Even newbies know OK-level gorging (build a hive, build X chamber, heal) so I just have a blast slaughtering marines with an early fade...

i love 2.0 but on public its really hard to win as rine...

Boooo....winning all the time bores me, since there is no challenge and nothing to get you excited about winning. 2.0 aliens bore me. Marines are 100x more fun for me, simply because it's a challenge.

I've been a kharaa-exclusive player almost from the get-go. Until may 17th, I only played very sporadically, but after that I really got into the game. Quite soon I started playing kharaa exclusively, mostly because I couldn't comm (always sucked at rts games), and I didn't like being dependent on the comm for equipment (I never got (or liked) the jp/hmg because I kept dying with it. Blame my twenty fps). I soon started to appreciate the challenge the kharaa posed: The odds were stacked against you from the start, and you lost most games. It was thrilling to see that a second hive was building, and it was really cool to go Lerk and save the hive from a jp/hmger with liberal usage of umbra. Spamming the marine base with acid rockets was just pure REVENGE, and felt soooo good. Still it got boring after a while, and I started to look forward to 1.1.
When 2.0 finally came out, it was coolness incarnate. I literally sat and giggled during most of my matches. I played marines a bit more just to see what was new, but still didn't like having to wait patiently for the comm to hand out the toys. After a while I saw stacking occur on the kharaa team, but I didn't mind. I told myself: "I stood by the kharaa in their darkest hours, I deserve to play 'em now." I still think so, but it's starting to get boring winning most of the time and knowing that it has nothing to do with my skills. I might look into playing the marines more, simply for the challenge (and after all, the GL is pretty cool).
