Man I Hate Turrets

These things are DEADLY!!
Hi, I'm relatively new and I played a game where I was using aliens. We were gonna win coz they only had their original base left over so YEAH I thought, we win, easy win heheh but when we entered their base we got peppered by rapid machine gun fire. Mainly from the gigantic number of turrets. Ok, so I evolved to the Onos to take 'em down but it ain't work...and everyone else uses the Onos too. But to no avail! The turrets were indestructible with people manning them!

I've heard that the alien builders have a special attack that demolishes buildings. I tried it out but the range is too small. I didn't see the end of the game. I left after an hour and a half, eager for lunch.

Does anyone else suffer/experience from the same problem? If so, how do you beat it?

You have an admin kick the lamers who drag out the game.

the other way is to ask a few people to go lerk, and umbra the crap out of the marine spawn. Umbra blocks 3 out of 4 bullets currently, and with a few lerks spammin umbra, your oni can get in range pretty easily. Now, if they happen to be spamming nades out the door, your lerks probably aren't gonna get in range to umbra, so it's a whole different situation.

I've easily taken down turrets as long as a lerk partners with me. Gorges can also wipe out turrets given a decent angle (but since you said the range was too small, I'm assuming the game you had didn't provide a good angle).

Turrets are not overpowered. They are now at a decent level since they were underpowered in the past. (You can almost [I said ALMOST] run circles around a group of turrets as a skulk with celerity in the past.)

Added later: Hey, a few seconds is all you need to take out a turret. Then run back and wait for the next umbra. Umbra spam on the other hand will wipe out the turret farm no problem.

Trade-off for more accuracy is less health than before, use this to your advantage (Charge works heap here)

Will help more if Lerks are using Umbra over and over around you to provide some cover, and skulks can sneak in and munch the TF,Gorges bilebomb and Fades just do their thng....possibly take out their RT first before anything else

Just remember that the turrets tracking deteriorates within range, like players,so if you are only dealing with 1 turret you shouldnt have problems

But when its a GL spamfest,well....all you can do is pray you can get in successfully and eat the GLer,and hope that 20+ res goes down the drain for the marines

They can just pick up the GL and resume spamming.

    Ho-hum.

May I repeat,DEVOUR EAT not kill eat

plus you'll be running away once you eat that GLer,so chances of escape is from an Onos stomach is at approx. 30%,80% if you got redemption (lag can kill)

Bilebomb range might have a longer range in 2.1.

Very true, coupled with adrenaline, a couple lerks could wreak havoc with Umbra *snicker*

    Very good plan imho.

Umbra lasts 6 seconds, it doesn't stack, so if you time your umbra right, you can keep an Onos/Fade/anyKharaa covered in Umbra compleetly, even without Adredaline.

Turret Farms are not hard to destroy, its the Turrets backed up by GL that makes it HARD!

turrets only kill 2 things. Skulks, and **** aliens.

If you're having a problem with turrets in marine start, you have so many options if you use a little something called "teamwork".

Bile bomb, Umbra, Onos Gore, Acid Rocket, hell even lerk spikes.

Main problem is that the resources marines gain from killing is enough to sustain the base even without a res tower. Marines shouldnt gain resources for killing aliens.

If you have them all trapped in marine start, you're probably going to need your entire team there. Group up before you attack, otherwise it'll be the entire marine team with tons of turrets against one or two aliens. These few brave aliens should be shredded. They just walked into a blender.

If you actually can get everyone to wait, it is important to mix alien classes. The three most important aliens I have found are the lerk, the gorge, and the Onos. The onos is great at absorbing bullets. The lerk is essential to cover both the gorge(s) and the onos. An umbraed onos with charge is great for running into the base. He can even run through grenade spamming pretty fast if he has celerity and is charging. Gorges actually do the most damage to buildings with their bile bomb. Adrenaline would be good for this situation, but I've found it's often best to use celerity in order to get in fast and be hard to hit.

The gorge's bile bomb does fairly impressive damage (200, I believe), but only to buildings. It also has a pretty good damage radius, meaning in a crowded turret farm you can be hitting probably at least 3 turrets, and probably another of the frontiersman's buildings as well. Three gorges bile bombing can take out buildings FAST. Either take out the turret factory, or if they have bunched up turrets simply take them out. Even if your attack fails group up for another one. Their structures should be so damaged that another attack like this will roll through them.

If you don't have enough for more than one or two onos, you can have suicide skulks or fades go in instead. Make sure to group up before attacking, and always have lerk and gorge support. Exploding skulks don't do a whole lot of damage to buildings, but they make marines fly around. Fades should focus on being a distraction, blinking around like madmen.

In short: Lerks umbra, gorges bile bomb, and the rest of the aliens distract the marines so the gorge can do his job. Group up and finish them off.
