My Views On How To Win As Marine

Its very simple. If you haven't killed an active hive before the first onos is out, you are losing. Sometimes its impossible to kill a hive, just chalk it up to a better alien team. but I hear so many stories about how marines were a better team for the first half of the game and locked down 6 nodes and a hive, but they never assaulted a hive before the onos evolved. so they lost ground and got pushed into a corner. a 1 hive onos doesn't have stomp, the main reason why onos are hard to kill. A similar topic about how to defend your RT from onos, take the battle to the alien's side. Making good use of phase gates is the most important strategy to winning. make a phase push so your guys can spawn and phase to the battle faster than the aliens can. I believe the obs should be your first structure after the armory and arms lab for armor 1. research phase tech and get a scout to rush to the enemy hive and build a phase there and have all your reinforcements go there

sent out scouts to hunt kharaa res-nodes and gorges(this must be repeated quite a few times throughout the game), let kharaa have the second(or you could try to keep them out of both hives while locking one down and then the other) hive and go for their third and lock it down, then go res-hunting for kharaa res nodes(shotguns are a major help in this), find the two res-nodes room and lock it down(you could try tech up to siege cannon and siege a hive, normally the often poorly defended first hive). build PGs in all important rooms and as soon a onos rears his head there, order all marines to go there and shoot the onos, be sure to also give out welders for repairing structures and turrets after onos attacks. tech up while trying to contain kharaa to one/two hives.(i've seen onos to be weak against experienced JPers) then use favored hive-assault tactic to finish off hives(but expect kharaa to bring up quite some resistance especially with two hives)
be sure to upgrade marines quick though, especially damage upgrades are important in later games(mostly Lv2 armor is good enough to keep marines breathing against most aliens, but have heavy armor researched when assaulting hives, spore immunity is reason enough to fit a few marines with special weapons out with them)
i'm not really good at thinking up tactics but this one gave a good result when i saw it utilized.
(NOTE:if the early kharaa res nodes are left unharmed, fade can be achieved in 3-4 mins without RFK and onos in double that time without RK)
Wow, some very good suggestions! Although I still must comment on how this should be moved into the Tsa strat forum. Dont mind torment <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.natural-selection.org/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo--> they are like big cows that just need a good poking in the belly.
Ps: Best part of this thread was....: ", take the battle to the alien's side" and "arms lab for armor 1" Armor 1 = good, Keep an offensive position = good.
