Pop.bots And Servers

Its getting annoying
Earlier today I was trying to join a game, took about 5 minutes to actually click one that wasn't empty except for 10-15 population bots. Bots that do nothing but stand around and make it look like the server has people playing...

In my experiance, they've almost always been near empty servers, because no one sticks around, meaning anyone who joins sees that its just bots who're either (A) Spectating, or (B) Taking up space in the RR.

So, this is more of a request. If your server has these things, remove them.

usually these are put on a server that "should" redirect you to to the "real" server. Like bait. make a 20 player server, with 17 fakefulls, and a redirector to the normally empty 12-person server.

hmm.. I think it would be better to gain some popularity first for a server. You can't just pop up a server and expect it to get players immediately. Get friends to play on it frequently, have nice admins, low ping - do this for a while and people will start joining. Then you get the regulars, and you'll never need those pop.bots again.

    I hate those too.

Thas has been talked about before here. The general agreement from it seems to be two ponts:
    1. To players: though people find these "fakefull" or "population bot" plugins/bots irritating, they do work. If the server has a good admin, he/she will de-activate it when this purpose is fulfilled, and you'll have one more good full server to play on; if he/she does not, then that's sufficient reason to say that the server is poorly maintained and isn't worth your time.
    2. To server admins: it is generally better to use bots that actually do something rather than sit in the readyroom. WhichBot can be rather convincing. Should a bunch of newbies join the server and go marines, they may even think they're playing vs. a clan of funny-named people, and because they're just bots, the marines have a very fair chance of winning as as well (something people have recently complained isn't happening enough).
