ARRRRGHHHHH!!!
alright.. i need some tips. how in the HELL do you kill heavy armour marines?
sure if you are lucky you can get the odd one or 2 by swarming him... but is there any sure fire way of countering matrines with welders, HMG's and GL's?

seems like if there are 2 or more they are unstopable.. they just keep creeping forward, demolishing everything in their way while their com spams medpacks and they weld eachother.

you try the good old lameos attack where you charge in, swallow one and redeem, but by the time you get back to the action the other ha hmger has built a phasegate and some turrets.

ive seen one HMG HA marine take out 2 oni who were goring him.

tell me WTH do you do?

As an individual kharaa your chances slim, the idea to beating an organized marine team is the same but vice versa you need an organized team of kharaa with different species. Ideally definitely have a lerk for umbra, and Onos with stomp, otherwise I suggest high pitched screaming, tossing of one's keyboard, and pulling one's hair as you stomp to the kitchen for some sympathy food that doesn't bite back. :-) JK of course, but seriously only way is teamwork.

Teamwork is key. With one hive, it is very tough to take them down. Your best chances would be to have a few lerks spike while skulks ambush from above. Any other lifeform will get ripped up when going melee against a bunch of HA. Gorges should be the field medics.

With two hives and with an Onos, it is nice to have the Onos keep stomping while the rest of the team feasts. Umbra from lerks helps a lot, with background spikes. Have skulks do leap/bite combinations for faster kills. Fades are still in general very weak against HAs unless there are numerous fades and with backup from gorges.

With three hives.. pretty easy. Xenocide skulks to disorientate the heavies (from the blast, they'll fly all over the place). Lerks primal scream and umbra, with background machinegun spikes as usual. Gorges web - very important, even with their welders out they can get webbed if you drag the web through them from behind - and gorges are still field medics as well. Onos stomps and charges. Fades acid rockets and melee if HAs are seperated or webbed.

I just started playing 2.0, but already i have had great success with fade against heavies. We only had one hive, and i was using regen. Blink is your best friend. Now that you can turn with it, you can magically appear out of nowhere inside or behind a group of heavies. I could get in about five slashes, then fly out. I would hide, wait for them to stop firing confusedly, and reappear. I can best describe this as the way nightcrawler fought in Xmen 2. If you havent seen that, you should. Its one of the best fight scenes of all time. I took out nine heavies and saved our gorgie using this tactic. As always though, backup by my buddies was appreciated. Blink allows you to fly in behind someone, hit them, and literally disappear before they can respond. I recommend trying these tactics at first in large open areas, like viaduct hive or the eclipse hive room.

    Kick 'em where it hurts.

    Right in the (resource) nozzle.

HA represent a massive investment by the marines. They're supposed to be hard to kill, and their presence on the map is supposed to be an indicator that you're not winning the resource game (or that you're waiting too long to close).

So, IME, the best options are:
    1. Halt early marine expansion, and restrict marine access to res
    2. Secure enough res and/or hives to do the stomp-gore-stomp thing. Or the rush-xenocide-respawn thing
    3. If the marines have poured absolutely everything into an HA tech rush, take our their undefended spawn. Watch and laugh as they try to clomp-clomp-clomp back to their base, then give up and relo to whatever hallway they were in when you attacked

well, i believe that when i used to be a HMG/HA, i got destroyed by a swarm of Skulks, attacking from all directions. Med Packs saved me.

(my suggestion) To take down a HMG/HA (shotty are more dangerous, that i think), distract it from the groups of HAs. Then, attack it by leaping upon the target as you strike.

This is best done on a wide corner, where you can keep turning(dodging bullets) and chewing the HA. Of course, i heard one said that you need like 16 bites/attacks, but if you have 4 skulks attack in the same time, the chances are bigger.

Accompanying by Onos' 3rd attack is excellent(stomping), the Fade eventually get close up and attack it hard. For mass HA massacre, you need a few Onos, one doing stomping, and rest doing the primary attack and devour if possible.

I've found that fades with carapice work wonders on HA especially in smaller grounps of 2-3. You need to blink or run real fast in their fase, or flank them and then swipe like mad in a circle strifing frenzy. Usually they drop quickly (4-5 hits) and if you get hurt too much you can quickly blink out of there.

    2 onos. ONE ONLY STOMPS

THE OTHER ONLY GORES. 3-4 per HA

with this, the ha are continually held still and easily gored as long as the stomp onos doesn't try to do both and as long as the gore onos doesn't try to stomp as well.

that and gorges webbing offensively to tie them up. at that point they're skulk/fade/onos fodder. but the skulks/fades/onos have to be nearby to save the gorge incase the HA breaks free

either way, it comes down to teamwork and coordination. playing consistently with people who cooperate is a big help.

Two heavies? No problem with a two-hive Onos. Stomp both, devour one, gore the other one to death. Shotguns? Run away after devouring one, stomp from a bit away, run back and gore to death. You're faster than the heavies, and at medium range the shotguns can't touch you. Stomp is your friend. Stomp keeps your foes from bouncing, stomp keeps them from shooting.
Don't have Onos? Tough luck, but try a Fade then (ideally with umbra support). Circle strafe and swipe. Don't be afraid of running off if your health gets low (even if you didn't take out a heavy), with metabolise or a gorge/DC cluster/hive nearby you'll be back in no time at all. Yes, you may get owned by shotguns or hmgs, but I didn't say this was gonna be easy, did I?
Don't have Fades/Onos? REALLY tough luck. Your best bet is swarming them with skulks/doing a huge xenocide rush. This is DEFINITELY not gonna be easy, but if you're probably losing anyway at this point.

My team fought of a 7 x ha/hmg/sg/gl once on ns_veil. The marines tried to surround us by attacking from both exits. I think the hive was Cargo. We killed them all with one hive skulks and gorges. Of course they had rfk to make another rush immidiately after, but still

if you're going to xenocide heavies, bast has got to be the best level to do it. if they leave the vent into their base open (or you can go through spinny doors if nobodys paying attention) just xenocide and jump on top of the armory. most only think one thing- stay near armory, get ammo. they dont run. by the time they get their guns up, they're blown all over the room and the armories shot to hell. repeat.

Lone heavies can stil fall to skulks given 'proper treatment'

As for moving groups you might want a Lerk and Fade to do this, have the Lerk continously Umbra the Fade while he handles the heavies, even better if you throw in a couple of skulks with Leap

But with 3 hives, best switch to Onos,Stomp & Charge is simply a game ending move, the only way to avoid it is to avoid the Onos itself, and without jetpacks and being stunned it will be tough (trust me,they dont research JPs that much anymore and stun is only avoidable with jumping or jetpacks)

But if not then you'd best go with Xeno and hopefully a lucky kill

lone HA - hit it with everything. And hope they don't have medspam.

dual HA - aim for one. Kill it. Half killing both means nothing with welders. If you mangle one and make a start on the other, he can't very well weld himself.

HA train - rush their base. Down go their IPs, so endgame consists of half a dozen HA trying to mangle your hives with decreasing ammo and numbers.

Beating endgame tech effectively requires endgame tech. 1 Onos constant stomping is most effective against large groups of heavies when paired with skulks and an umbraing lerk. If you are down to 1 hive your best chance is flanking them before they get to your hive and picking off the ha's on the end of the train. I've seen a group of 6 heavies get reduced to 4 heavies by the time it makes it 2/3rds the way to your hive/important choke, and if you can suceed in reducing them that much you decrease their effectiveness dramatically.

set traps and destroy the res. If you have two hives and are fighting heavies, sensory is a godsend. Cloak a room, and put ocs in strategic locations. Put them on all sides of a room, and try to make it so the heavies cant take cover. to take out electrified res, all you need is spike. a lerk with adrenaline can spike indefinitely, so just sit there in a vent or something with the mouse held down until it disappears. When someone comes, cloak if you can or just get where they cant see or follow you.

If your using the default layout (or haven't used the Q key), you'll have it bound to lastweapon, so it will auto change to your last weapon. If not, it's easy to do it in the keyboard controls configuration. Good for the usual blink/swipe or leap/bite.
