Hide post counters
<div class="IPBDescription">Just wondering...</div>Is it possible to hide the post count? It's just that I can't help noticing the spam posts recently (I'm not going to accuse anyone or anything, Legionnaired's been there). There might as well have been a thread titled 'Pointless Status Bump-Up'.
I know some people like the idea of a post counter, but it does rather add an element of competition to the forums. Perhaps removing it would reduce the number of pointless posts? The user titles could stay, to give people a rough idea of how many posts someone has made (and since these only change for every few hundred posts, it would reduce competition).
I can't see any special point of the post counter. It shows how many posts we've made. So...? It doesn't especially mean anything. A better indicator of a users experience might be the date they joined the forums.
Does anybody else feel the same way or am I just rambling?
Incidentally, this is not intended as a 'mute the spammers' or 'it was them' thread. I'm not trying to make trouble here.

99% of their posts are or stupid and have nothing to do with the topic or are 1 lines....
some ppl screwed up some pretty good discussions
The major problem with the recent spam was not that they were trying to bump their post counts, but that the board was viewed as a chat venue of sorts.
We caught the problem way before anyone else started complaining, and PMed the parties involved around noon time yesterday, and they since promised to try to reduce the hyper-active postage, like good forum-members. We moderators have things under control, don't worry.
