Ah, you don't have to turn it on. When it's researched, it's always on. See those blue round circles (just like the shotgun croshair)? That's the motiontracking in action.

But remember that Sensory Chambers nearby cloaks aliens from the motiontracking too.

wierd, on a server i was on as alien i assumed that it had to be turned on or off because it sometimes made noise and sometimes didnt, i assumed he was turning it on and off and had to switch weapons, i also guessed that because the time i heard the motion tracking sound he stopped as if he had to turn it on and look at it closely... need more offline time to figure these things out without worrying that im makin my team loose.. thx

Edit/add: what i also found odd that if its true what your saying, that you cant turn it on or off is that it can be a huge nuisance because as an alien i can hear the marine easily because of the loud noise it makes thus if he gets MT you basicly give the alien MT but more like audio tracking, whats also odd is as a marine while i had MT i didnt hear the sound of MT working but as aliens i was able to hear the marines MT... thats messed up, i kind of hope its a bug, though part of my testing was offline so it could be messin around with regular gamplay, anyone?

there is a mod that some servers have installed where if you turn your torch on, it turns into a sort of alien proximity detector. It makes noises just like in aliens the film, with the higher pitched ping noises when an alien is getting close. tbh i think its a liability, cos its pretty loud, and aliens can also use it as a marine detector (whats that weird pinging sound, marines must be, erm, this way, *chomp* *chomp*)

ah no wonder, so your saying regular MT doesnt make noise? seems that way on my comp, damn that mod thing is so retarded, its hard enough balancing the game by itself then you have turds messing around with the gameplay, hopefully they give ASE a selection where you can enable "no modification of [blank]"

    Okay!
Here is all i know about motion tracking:

When you want motion tracking, you must go commander or someone else!

Then this commander must build an obsevatory!

Then it is fully build you can research motion tracking for 45 resources!

Check that you have 45 resources and click at motion tracking!

Wait until it is fully researched!

And now, when you go out of the commander mode (comand console [cc]) you will see blue circles on the screen!

If an alien is near the circle will be big!

And if it is very far the circle will be small!

NOTE: You only will see the circles (blue) when the aliens are moving!

And yes: you can't see: is it an onos or a skulk!?!?!

MT doesnt make a sound on a normal server. aliens cannot tell if marines have MT or not

    honestly, i quite like it

it doesnt give any sort of directional indication, just that they are close

as marine, i found myself creeping myself out with it, that eiry ping noise has started up, oh bugger

Plus, you can use it to draw enemies to you, which is great for kill zones, as well as for distractions.

If you're new, don't play on modified servers. When you've learned how NS itself actually works, then play modded games.
