Anyone had problems with hackers in 2.0 recently? I'm asking because there's a person playing on my fav server who's managing to rack up insane kills as lerk, with SPIKES. Either he's very good, or he's hacking.

Heh, I'd appreciate it even more if someone with some experience with hacker demos looked over the demos I got, if I can upload them.

    He is good. I am decent with spikes, its not hard to use at all. It is a huge pet peve of mine when people accuse others of hacking because they can't do somthing that the other person is doing.

    I've seen VERY good lerk players, but this guy is insane. He takes on (and kills) entire squads without dying. He even located a guy in the reactor room water w/o having seen him, being alerted through voice comm, or SoF. However, I'm the only one with suspicions for now. Would someone care to look through a demo or two?

    ed: Just wanted to note he takes on and kills entire squads with spikes.

    Ya.. specate him in first person. Thats the best way. Most Aimbots don't direct just the bullets, they move your entire screen to lock onto the person. You would notice quite a jittery movement towards the target as soon as they come within the aimbots FOV.. which can usually be set anything from 5° to 360°...
    If you the still have any doubts trying to distinguish if they hack or not, try finding yourself some bots and a hack then run a lan game against the bots.

    I like spectating and I think I found lots of cheaters BUT you have to be really carefull for accusing because of 3 facts.

    1) 2.0 just released. This mixes newbies that dont even know the basic maps with ppl that are experienced in this mod. You cant say somebody cheats because one team is a heap of newbies for one game.
    2) NS is really unique in gameplay including teamwork and special skills such as wallclimbing, some ppl learn faster to defeat those who dont ... in different LEGAL ways you might not imagine.
    3) You dont see motion tracking and full hivesight. You also dont know how good one player knows the other players behaviour and how to defeat this. The people you spectate firstperson see and know more than you in general.

    Rules and thoughts about exploting are different from comunity to comunity especially when it comes to bunnyhopping, spamming stuff, customisation.
    Seen server rules that dont allow sieging the last hive for example.

    Should be noted that the main hacker makers for NS have worked out the minor bugs with 2.0, and do have working hacks for it. I cruse the hack sites often...simply research of course <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->

    There is currently a bug with the hack progs that makes NS/HL crash when they try to use their in game menu.

    There also that minor bug of 75% of them are VAC dectectable...
    As soon as flayra gets VAC working for 2.0 all the little hack kiddies will have to go away. Well, at least for a while.

    Who knows, maybe he comes from CS and has played since HL was released and even earlier, and just has mad aiming skills. But modern aimbots smooth out the "aiming towards a person"(or so I've heard), so it doesn't flick instantly. About the reactor room scenario, maybe he uses custom models?

    Well that explains a lot, the smoothing thing at least. That was the only thing people holding the admins back from banning him.

    Scent of fear + lerk = badass lerk. Who cares about carapace or adrenaline early? You see your enemies like MT and you can either gas them out even before they get to you if they are in group or spike them down if they are alone. Usually the guy wastes a full clip trying to hit you from around the corner then you move in and just spike him. Or just dance around him in the air, often works too but requires some practice, very hard to hit and specially in dark areas.

    I remember I recently wasted a entire marine base alone as a lerk.

    I spiked 5 sentries, 2 sieges, 1 tf, a commchair, a pg, 2 heavies, 3 normal marines and a armory.

    believe me.. if you are a good lerk you can nuke anything. (I was hiding in a vent btw.. i suck at flighying and shooting but myabe that dude didn't)

    He was flying around, faced 3 marines shooting at him, and took all three out. With spikes. While flying. Would you like the demo?

    It depends on the stages of the game.

    If it early then a lerk can easily own any squadron, I usually just spore them a while then spiek them to death, get in close range and fly about hwile spiking. Not hard
