Who read The Sum of all fears? If you had what did you notice wrong with the movie? I noticed that ITS A COMPLETLY DIFERENT STORY! youre toughts please..
oh yeah... Plus the air engagements with Robby Jackson! in his fantom i think it was. edit: Plus Jack's boss is dead and its a new guy not Admiral Greer.
Yes, the movie was completely different from the book. Of course, you have to remember that the movie was only based on the book. It was not trying to be the book, in video format. A several hundred page novel cannot be condensed to an hour and a half long movie without major changes. I went in to the movie having not read the book in some years, so I was not expecting the movie to have the identical plot. I enjoyed it, but I know some people who went in expecting to see a film version of the book did not.
well there were things they did not need to change for example Ryan was maried had kids etc... Second They could of kept the Arabic terrorists and not neo nazis unless they wanted to divert attention from 9.11 wich is a good reason.
In the book there is a plot to start a war between the Soviet Union and the US a groop of Russian speeking terrorists hijacked uniforms and a command vehicle and commanded the East berlin brigade to attack the NATO forces in west berlin..... You can guess the rest
we are discussing Clancy novles in this trend guy not whos behind who..... either your lost or youre trying to anoy someone i seriously hope its the 1st one........ <!--emo&???--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/confused.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt='???'><!--endemo-->
Now, now, two wrongs don't make a right. But, seriously everyone, try to keep the threads on topic! The purpose of a forum is to communicate thought processes in an organized manor, hence all the different threads.
Anyway, I've enjoyed the Clancy books I've read, but then again, I've not seen the movie you speak of. I tend to agree with Umbrella Master though.

Comments
In the book, Jack Ryan is the head of the FBI
The Arab dudes are helped out by an American Indian
Only a couple of important people die
Communications satalites are accidentally blown up
Many other things
edit: Plus Jack's boss is dead and its a new guy not Admiral Greer.

It rivals certain Clancy novels...
