<div class="IPBDescription">some onos devouring tips</div> Many of you seem to have trouble being able to devour. wether its chasing a marine or surprise devour. some of you cant get the hang of it.

<b>aiming.</b>

the best way to get more of a chance of devouring is to lower the tip of your horn to the marines chest , preferrably in the middle of the chest or back area. its more sucessful aiming for their chest with the tip of your horn.

also if the marine is running or moving alot just use this method only aim for anywhere above their upper thigh and their shoulders. you have 85% more chance of devouring someone by aiming in this area, wether they are heavies or not. you can devour anyone.

<b>eating jetpackers</b>.

now these are fun things to eat. its the same aiming method, only you jump. mind you its more amusing to get a jp guy in mid air to see their reaction and to test your devouring skills.

You can devour anyone anywhere, if theyre sitting on a box just jump and devour. youll grab them like a dog jumping up catching a frisbee.

crouchign marines are simple, just aim for their shoulders or knees. youll pick them up easier than them standing up.

    Yes, these tips do work. In addition, I would like to stress that if you can, use your stomp ability first so as to make devouring much easier.

    Finally, devour does have a range. Therefore, if you see a marine cowering in a vent, suck him out - literally! Like through a straw!

    it also seems that there is a minumum range for devour. if i am pressed up to the onos chest, he will try and try and fail to eat me!

    however, about four feet away i am plucked like a raspberry.

    its quite hilarious to be a shotty light marine and i can just crouch pressed up against the onos' chest blasting away while he is trying to bite downwards! they always get greedy and dont realize gore wouldve killed me much easier.

    I've seen one too many Oni die in that fashion - trying to devour one marine with a shotgun or hmg blasting in its face. It will take some getting used to, but eventually the potency of the devour Oni will increase.

    Devour should only be used against vanilla/defenseless marines... always gore potential threats. It is useless to try to devour a GLer since they will try to run away and won't have any trouble hitting you , taking damage themselves (hence they are digested faster , meaning less regen for you)

    It is highly foolish to devour a shotgunner. HMGers on the other hand can be devoured if you're fast enough , especially if it is a HA (who can pummel you if you run away and will take many gore hits to die)

    Devour regenerates you , use this to your advantage when destroying defended outposts... clear the first few turrets to reach the marines , devour one , raze more turrets , devour backup...

    You seem to be forgetting about Stomp. Stomp-devour has to be the best way there is to kill HA marines.

    Do the same to GL as well if you're having problems with marines reusing that one GL to keep up the spam.

    I have to disagree with Stakhanov here. Goring potential threats is a very dangerous thing to try. I've fallen to a HA/shotgun marine with lvl3/3 upgrades because I tried to gore him to death - and I connected every time. It is simply too easy to die as an onos now, so if you see a potential threat - and this can be anything - ranging from light armor to heavy armor, with a good weapon - then eat it if you can get away. The idea is to eat as much of the marines' resources as possible - and a GL/HA or HMG/HA is tops (40 res each).

    If you see multiple threats, be weary that you may not get away if you try to eat one. It is best to use charge if you can't escape - and even that is risky, as you simply die too fast - so yes, stomps are a must. If you have adrenaline you can do stomp/gore/devour combinations.

    i sometimes use stomp, usually if i got celerity i just charge in and eat one, charge out, heal, bite a few, then repeat the same thing.

    hehe, blender, had some funny moments like that myself, ate one guy 7 times in a row once, every time I eat someone I just say 'yummy', but this guy got REALLY annoyed at me, every time he spawned he rushed at me........ an onos.....he had LA LMG.......... I had a SC beside me.......... every time he would walk right up to me, notice he cant move any farther then, stomp *ARAARRRGGGHHHH* proceed with the soiling of one's under wear and them started to be digested in a horrid fashion, he really didnt learn, however after the 7th time he had been eaten he left the server, oops <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->

    Yeah, crouching works well, just make sure they're stomped first, it'll go alot easier.

    This isn't a story about me devouring but on one game, I was fade, some lvl3/3 rine would be lucky enough to kill me, 5 sec. later, he would be devoured by an onos. This happened about 3-4 times with the same rine and the same onos. I was laughin' my head off. Between deaths I would get 50-60 res so dying really only cost me a minute before I was on the front again.

    Sure you can. It is harder to devour without 'charge-devouring' though, where the first you actually have someone in your belly, the second you get a devour kill instantly from charging the person to death with the devour weapon out.

    Its really hilarious when people go crazy when they get devoured, here some quotes:

    Whats more funny is that you use cloaking as onos in a great spot, heres what i did:

    ns_eclispe

    I was an early game onos, just me, no one else onos

    I was cloaked outside the marine start, and i was hiding on that small wedge on the wall

    there was only 1 hive, so no stomp

    A marine comes out of marine start, ALONE (guess he didnt think)

    He comes out, looking at the hall way, crouching, near his marine start entrance

    just the crouching marine staying there, doing nothing, was like a giant big marine hamburger, with nothing but that weird meat part.

    So i decloaked, ran up to that unfotunt marine, who didnt even hear my footsteps, and ddint turn around to see me, ended up in my stomach.

    It was pretty funny, since it was a sneak-devour attack, and the freaked out, saying like
    "Holy F***ing ( Swearing on this server is not allowed) S*** ( No swearing is allowed) , You F***ing ( WARNING! (name of guy) has 2 more swear warning left until kick!) Scared me like hell.

    Cloaking onos really does help out, i also managed to sneak attack from behind a squad of 5 Has

    Well thats it... i think?

    You can devour while charging, it's funny because your kill icon on the side changes to the devour one if you switch to devour and then run some people over. Makes it look like you're devouring several people right after each other. And there's nothing to it really, stomp first, then aim low, don't even consider trying to devour a shotgun/hmg without stomping him first or you're going to get blasted. And if you don't have stomp, well then, you selfish jerk, you should have went gorge and dropped some friggin hives <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo-->

    I have had a lot of problems with devour for a while. can never seem eat a marine even after 3-4 tries.

    I find that in the late game, devour is pathetic compared to a good charge. Get Sof, adrenaline, and regen, then just turn the corner and charge. Devour's fun, but i really only use it if my team's not backing me up. Cloak+Silence+Devour=**** off marines. They had a base in shipping tunnel, i onosed right behind a box away from their turrets. Every time someone walked past, gulp. It took 20 freaking minutes to find me! Granted they were idiots, but the cloak/silence onos can be really helpful early game (my favorite when a bonehead decides dc is last)
