Banzai was funny when it first came on a few years ago (It's an English tv show), it was hillarious purely based on how surreal it is, but it got old as the show went on... and on... and on.

Another thing, a lot of the people on it are minor celebrities that only the English would know of and a good deal of it is English humour, so i take it another reason it's not gone down too well is because Americans don't have the same kind of sense of humour as we do.

It was cool back when it was on USA cable netowrk for a while, it was an addon to some cheesey movie, but it was ok, they even made fun of themselves when they got cancelled!

Of course the best thing about banzai was the way it was on just after the pubs close in the UK. Perfectly aimed at its niche audience.

The funniest one i saw was when they were each in a trolly and were pushed at eachother... Keep watching the show and you will see it.

It was niche even in the UK TV scene thang, so I expect that Americans will dislike it even more. Its subtle humour through embarassment, rather than those awful sitcoms (Damn you Americans, we dont want to watch Will and Grace already!). The problem is, you need to have more than 1 person watching in order to enjoy it properly, preferably with a few drinks.

Look you either watch it or not watch it simple as that. Crunchy you can change the channels on your television right... right....

Indeed. Banzai was really rather funny the first time it came out. However, God knows why they brought it over to America, its really rather too camp for Americans.

Bang on about Will and Grace, however its supports in this country are growing. Even if it is as funny as cat's sick.

    Haha, you do?

FOX has like 2 good shows left. The rest is garbage based on what the people high up think appeals to the consumer. Aka : reality shows.

Maybe, but some of us are deeply disturbed, and quite like Debra Messing, even if she does need a good meal or two.

banzai is great, but it only comes in to its own after you and a few of the lads have been down the pub and you need something to watch on tv

    bah. americans and their sitcoms...
  • Josiah_BartletJosiah_Bartlet Join Date: 2002-07-04 Member: 880Members, Constellation
    Speaking of British TV.

Z.X. Bogglesteinsky I assume the "Give that man a coconut" in your signature refers to Have I Got News for You when Boris Johnson was hosting.

    If so, good stuff.
  • BogglesteinskyBogglesteinsky Join Date: 2002-12-24 Member: 11488Members
umm, no it refers to the My Hero scene when Thermoman has just worked something rather easy out, and his baby son says "Give that man a coconut". it is commenting on Nem0 comment about balance above it
  • Josiah_BartletJosiah_Bartlet Join Date: 2002-07-04 Member: 880Members, Constellation
Damn, well that was the best episode of "Have I Got News for you" ever.

Nem0 quote is true though, he does deserve a coconut.

It's not a matter of whether the show sucks or not; people here are ticked off about it cause it killed Futurama.

O.k, clearly logic has just flown out the window.

    *waves bye bye to logic*

What do you mean Banzai killed futurama? Unless you mean it was put on at the same time that futurama used to be on, in which case (as the Banzai people would say) YOU WRONG!

Did you not think that maybe Futurama had come to the end of the series and so they stopped showing it?

    I can see why you are called confuzor <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo-->

I never saw the one on FOX...but the version on Channel 13 rules. They play the risque stuff. Like the one where you had to guess which **** belonged to what guy. I guessed right. >_>

You are aware that Banzai was created and first aired whilst Futurama was still having teething problems.

    ?!?!

/makes note not to make assumptions on subjects not in self's expertise

<a href='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/index.php?act=ST&f=10&t=42156' target='_blank'>The Futurama post</a> had negative mentionings about Banzai, so I concluded (albeit incorrectly) that it had some sort of contribution to Futurama's series finale/end.

Please imagine that this post, and the posts I made above will self-destruct in 5 seconds...

    please...

Banzai is so dumb, i get so mad at the announcers voice, the best show to get major laughs is in fact MXC on TNN (Spike TV now) its 2 teams of asain people at least 20 on each team doing events that can cause serious injuries, its like american gladiator except.. dangerous and no pads everywhere lol, i watch it whenever i get a hance, and never ever stop laughing
