<div class="IPBDescription">Getting assigned a trashed room...</div>I'm so **** off. During the semester I live on campus in what's called the Commons. Its bigger than a normal dorm room, its kinda like an apartment that's owned by the university. Yesterday I was given opportunity to move into the room I was assigned to live in for next year, and its a dump. Here's a run down on just a few of the problems with this room:

- Appears to be Urine stains on mattress & floor
- Blood (maybe) on bedroom door
- Smashed wall in kitchen
- Filthy walls
- Needs painting
- Dirty Refridgerator
- Gum on wall in Bathroom near toilet paper holder thing
- Gum inside dryer, all over it.
- Pipe going to toilet is coming out of wall
- Bedroom door looks to have been kicked in, Door panel cracked.
- Lots more, too much to mention...

I swear, its entirely possible that somebody could have killed somebody in this room and not cleaned up afterwards. I have no idea how a human being can live in such filth.

These conditions are completely unlivible. And while a lot of it could be cleaned up, they charge students heavy fines when a room is damaged, they should actually clean the room instead of doing nothing. I refuse to clean up after someone else, that's ridiculious. I may have to get an apartment somewhere else, or just drive back and forth...

The worst part of this is my dad thinks if I just flip the matress over it'll all be fine...

Here are a few pictures of the worst spots...

Good thing is youre doing this early, so you can complain to whoever at the college and possibly get a different dorm.

  • SirusSirus Join Date: 2002-11-13 Member: 8466Members, NS1 Playtester, Constellation
Looks like you have some work to do. Honestly, get some friends together, you guys could get that place cleaned up pretty fast.

    That's a bummer though.

Eh, from your descriptions I would have expected a dump, but the pictures don't seem to be all that bad. Still worth talking to the dean about though.

I wouldn't really want that mattress anyway. Looks uncomfortable. Do you have one at home that you can use?

You HAVE checked all the closets for dead bodies, right?

Man...that place is a clunker, bigtime. But ya, just grab some friends, some paint, and buy yourself a mini fridge until you can afford a full size(unless you can now). Go to the salvation army for another mattress.

Damn you guys are fast. Let me finish posting all the pics. :P

I can't get a different room, cause there aren't any more available. They're at no vacancy.

I'm in the process of trying to report it, but the **** won't return my damn phone calls. The guy in charge is a real **** who already doesn't like me, so I don't expect much to be done.

And I'm not cleaning up someone else's blood and urine. To hell with that...

The room sucks **** location wise too. Its right across the street from a 7-11, so anytime anybody gets gas or airs up their tires you can hear it. Or when idiots w/ their souped up hondas are driving down the road listening to Tupac or whatever the hell it is that they think its so cool to rattle everyone's windows with...

I just don't feel like paying $425 a month for a dump. Its not worth that kind of money. If this was a privately owned apartment, and not the University's, I gurantee you nobody would move in to an apartment that looked like this, or if they did it would be something like $75 a month...

Dude, if your paying $425 a month for that piece of crap, I'd move out. Find somewhere else...I don't know where, just find SOMEWHERE. To make sure you don't get...something. In the meantime, go to the doctor, and make sure you've gotten your shots. Seriously...that place is sick.

(and on the mattress, I think thats just sweat stains)

    sweat is yellow eh?

and $1000? I'd hate to live there. Its like $500 for the nicest apartments around here...

Also remember this is but a small selection of pictures. I took 60 different damage pictures w/ the digital camera last night...

And for those that are curious, no, I'm not saying there right now. And I won't be. But all this crap happens suddenly and I gotta leave for QuakeCon tommorrow... gah...

Yeah just move out, what is the point on spending that much a month plus the repairs and also paying for school. Just find a nearby apartment that you can afford and go for it.

Call the town health department or building department. With **** and blood all over, I'm sure they will force the university to do something. With the broken locks and such they probably will also. Being a college town they probably have tons of regulations specific to the on-campus housing, such as having proper locks and that.

You shouldn't have to clean anything up. If nothing happens, call a local TV station or newspaper, they are hungry to expose stuff like this. Around here we have the "7 On Your Side" for Channel 7, "Problem Solvers" for Channel 2, and "Defenders Investigations" for Channel 4. They are always looking to expose dirty little secrets and I'm sure they would fall all over this one if you sent them these pictures.

I don't get how some people live like that, how come soon as 'kids' hit college they turn into total idiots concerning cleaning? Find the previous owner and slap him with his mattress.
