The point of my post was not really a 'dig' at newbies. I can handle armoury humping and things like that. I am actually quite patient and accept when things go badly. I don't mind if a marine runs off then spams 'RT here' when its only them and on the other side of the map. The point is they are doing what they think is best, its true you need ammo to kill things and you need res.
The problem is anyone that has played as alien on any server for 5 rounds has heard 'all find an RT and gorge right away' at the round start. Then they just dont do it. I don't see any kills or deaths from them and they just wait. Surely anyone with an IQ above 10 realises that more resource towers will give them more resources? and a common saying is 'you have to speculate to accumulate' so people understand you sometimes need to spend to gain.
And personally the first time I played NS I went 'urghh this is too difficult and complicated' then I learned a bit about it and found it much more enjoyable. I think the reason I like it is that because I understand it I know when I make a difference. How can you even like NS if you dont or even want know the basics?
But, as somone said, yes it is their perogative to play.
newbies dont bother me its midexperienced players that think they know what theyre on about but are infact wrong which not only leads to confusion for less experienced players but also an uncomfortable atmosphere if either player is arrogant.
I've seriously considered binding "press U to use teamchat". Some people seem not to even have the basic knowledge of teamplay in Half-Life. I still don't see why anyone would want weapons level 1 before armor level 1, one more bite makes a lot more difference than 2 less shots...
yes u explain calmy to the newb only to find that he goes onoswith the precious res, after saving from the start, only to die from 1 la lmg marine because he didntbother getting the upgrades you told him to, and was trying to kill the marine with stomp.
newbies who listen are fine, newbies who dont listen to you and insist on being detrimental to the team are just plain annoying.

Once you know all the alien classes and skills, and marine weapons and equipment, the only things left to understand is "on marine, do exactly what your commander says" and "on alien, do what your team says and make sure to ask before dropping chambers." If you've got all that down then you understand the game. If you were looking deeper, like strategy-and-tactics-wise, I'd say that probably nobody understands the game yet.
Kinda a wierd question to ask for an RTS. "Who understands starcraft." I mean, you know all of the units and what they do and their spells and how to use them, but do you understand the game?

That guy surely knows all of the units and classes but demonstrates a clear lack of understanding of the overall game(well, TBH i have a hard time understanding that little diagram so who knows). The point I wanted to make was, its no big deal. If you're *SURE* that you actually understand the game(do you?), then you should try and help others to understand. They will listen.

Not all of pub-gamers are "NSPlayer". Lot of them are just some clan members that were bored and wanna have some fun sloughtering newbie's. Some non-clan members are good too but they hev much less respect from other players.
I was playing today with Kid-A as a com. Ns_eclipse. 3 hives, 1 under siege from key hole. Some RTs. Lot of rines were duing rushing WOL that was instantly healed from every dmg what was taken. Kid-A dropped me a shotgun so i was able to hunt down some gorges. Everything was going good till rines was rushed by kamikaze skulks. Ive seen peeps that was walking without ammo thinking that this teethy little basraed will have mercy on them but they all were sloughtered. I died, Key-Hole and south loop felt to the enemy. Only 1 rt, bunch of dumb rines and laughing onos. Kid-A sayd "sorry, they are unstoppadble". Why? Coz THOSE DUMB MARINES! We have tutorials after instalation, manuals, vet's but there are milions of stupid players that just dont know how to play and only coz them pub games suck.
I think that less then 30% understands the idea of NS and NS as a game to play. Less then 5% even looked at manual (i was reading it coz i like it and i like thos stories <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->)
