<div class="IPBDescription">'restricted to lan server local c'</div> First of all, Be kind with me and my lack in english ;-)
So...
We were 4 to DL NS 2.0.
1 created a server, an other could join it.
2 of us (me and an other) tried, and tried, and retried to connect, but we couldnt, as we get the message you saw above: ' Restricted to lan .. servers... local C'.
We have no clue what's wrong, if some of you could help us ASAP, we would be greatly thankful.
;-) ++ NS rocks !

ok, just a few checks:
1) You are NOT playing on a LAN, correct?
2) Can you (all of you) connect to other servers?
make sure that who ever is running the server has sv_lan set to 0 in both server.cfg and listenserver.cfg
I think that is your problem <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->
Good Luck and Good Fighting
oh, and Your sig Rocks something seriously hard <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->
However, that's still weird that 2 People could connect on each other servers, on the contrary of me and a friend. <!--emo&???--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/confused.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='confused.gif'><!--endemo-->
We gonna try, and I'll post a feedback ASAP.
Thx again. <!--emo&::marine::--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/marine.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='marine.gif'><!--endemo-->
Interesting.
ok, I was assuming that you know what a LAN is (but for all I know it could be called something diff in your native language)
LAN = Local Area Network. Only people on the same LAN will be able to connect to some one with sv_lan set to 1. So if the server was at a college and that one person was also at the same college then they could connect but any one off campus would not. Same goes if they were sharing an internet connection in a house or something (like though a linksys router).
Again, I apologize If I sound patronizing but I just assume people know as little as possible so that I don't give them dirrections they can't understand <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->
well, good luck and get back to me <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->
Those 2 guys weren't in a lan, so that's still weird, I guess.
Anyway, your tips work perfectly, and we have finally discovered NS 2.0 <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo-->
Once again, me and my friends are very thankful to you.
Keep it up, +++
as a side note, if you have been having some problems finding servers in your area try using <a href='http://www.udpsoft.com/eye2/index.html' target='_blank'>ASE</a>
You can use ASE to filter servers by country <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->
so again, have fun fragging <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->
