<div class="IPBDescription">No reason left to fear.</div> 01- Res: It costs 100 res and takes ages to evolve.
02- Size: Its big, unable to fail, unable to hide, easy to get blocked or stuck.
03- Killing: Its easy to kill, especially witth redemption, you just need to run after it with 2 shootguns or simular wehn it tries to escape.
04- Defense: Its easy to block off with mines or 4 turrets with welders behind.
05- Regen: Healing an onos takes ages, shooting it down takes seconds.
06- Jetpacking: JPers simply laugth about onoses fliing around or past to block it from escaping.
07- Devouring: Devouring makes them slow and run away scared. In 2 of 3 cases devouring fails while the onos comes closer to its death.
08- Moving: Its slower than a gorge and cant climb walls. It cant reach everywere quickly and needs to crounch soo often.
09- Viewing: Its field of view is smaller than everything.
10- Comparing: Gorges can kill structures better, Fades can kill players better, Lerks can support better, Skulks can just can do everything. Oni just block the way, sometimes eating ONE ha while killing another one.

Honestly, I have more fun with xenoing.
If theyre unable to fail, why are you pointing out so many problems?
They infallible!

just like the maginot line
However, they do have a definate purpose: when you have a mixed force, an onos can soak bullets for the squishier evolutions. Charge into a base, get the turrets to target you (which aren't exactly all that scary to an onos), and let the gorge bilebomb them all. Sometimes the gorge has to get really close to do so, and it won't work well without the massive amount of time an onos can stand against a turret farm.
Also, stomp is definately the onos' strongpoint. It actually places them in a strong support role, as a stomp gives plenty of time for a much more mobile skulk to do loads of damage.
Health wise, the onos seems somewhat right. You have to be able to kill them, after all (double so now that you can get them so early). What really irks me sometimes is the mobility issue. They walk rediculously slow. With two hives, I often find celerity quite useful because of this (but charge is even better and really requires adren). I've only ever really had issue getting an onos through a room when a gorge blocks my path; that issue can be fixed with somewhat intelligent chamber placement.
Step 1: Sit still in the hive for an hour and don't move or build anything. Wait for your 25 starting res to turn into 100.
Step 2: Go Onos, right in the middle of the brightest part of the hive, without even bothering to hide.
Step 3: When you hear gunfire nearby, shout "Guard me! I'm going onos! Help I'm going onos! Onos onos onos!" into your mike.
Step 4: When you finally hatch, go jump in my face and shout "Heal me heal me heal me gorge heal me" into your mike.
Step 5: When the gorge heals you, proceed towards the marine base. Rush in and eat the most expensive marine you can find. Turrets will chisel away about 200 of your health.
Step 6: Go bother the gorge building sensory and defs near the marine start. Jump in my face and shout "Heal me heal me heal me gorge heal me" into your mike.
Step 7: Everybody else on the entire freaking alien team goes onos except for me.
Step 8: When all the onoses redempt with a HA in their bellies, I will duck around the corner and try to take down some structures with Bile Bombs.
Step 9: Block the corridor with your ungainly bodies so I can't retreat and watch me get shot up and die, still demanding me to heal you.
Step 10: Repeat until all marines get sick of seeing your hemroids screen and leave the server, or the commander recycles the base.
[Edit: I forgot to mention, it was not my idea to build Defs near the marine spawn. Yep! That's right! The Onoses put me up to it!]
I've been on marine teams where we've bounced them off for ridiculous lengths of time.
When its endgame, go Skulk bomb and rush the marine base en masse. By that stage you should have another 100 res anyway, so you'll be able to go Onos to mop up if need be.
and eating stuff is cool, i have only been saved from being digested once, i was a la weilding the ha train atackin a hive and a lerk managed to gas me out, i respawned and an onos was tring to put the chomp on our turit farmed base, so i ram him firing away, empty lmg and most of my pistal before he manages to devour me (im good at moving in a way that maked it dificult to devour) by the time he devours me the turrits redeem him, to the hive with the HA train i was weildn, they kill him and i step out at about 70 hp and start pickin off skulks.
SC upgrade/redemption = can't reach anything before redemption kicks in
SC upgrade/celerity = can't get out alive even if you reach someone
redemption/celerity = super-killer with a one-shot-to-kill weapon
Just because you see SC > DC > MC everytime (and 3rd hive hardly ever comes until end game) and see onos die, doesn't mean it is too weak. The available upgrades for it suck. Same kinda applies to fades: I rarely see carapace/adrenaline fades which are just mad killers compared to SC upgrade/something...
Onos are good but seriously, know your roles. At endgame its time to break out the skitters and go skulk bomb.
I totally agree, Onos is easy to hit. They are large, and when they are running around so their broad side is shown, they are REALLY easy to hit.
If you're a gorge, rush with something you know won't redempt on you. Alien endgame can be sped up so much faster by simply bile bomb + xeno. Both are way more effective at killing a marine base then onos. Skulks xeno, killing light armor. Gorge bile bombs, dealing very heavy damage to structures. Once gorge's ability bar runs down, he runs with celerity and waits for the marines to die again. A lerk 2 skulks and a gorge, if 3 hives are up, can be more effective against a marine base then 3 onos in my opinion, unless the onos aren't redempt onos...which probably won't happen.
You're all right...onos are horrible at endgame

While at the rine base your gorge friends (answering the "wth DC DC DC" spam) are getting totalled, allowing you to roll back in with your pwn0s and possibly hit the IP.
I say possibly because in 90 percent of endgames I've yet to see the onos hit a TF or IP first. Usually its the turrets, or armoury, or equally pointless structure.
IMHO the best thing to do if you're a gorge at base is to go Lerk and umbra/scream for all you're worth with adrenaline (spores if they're all light armour, and they should be after about a minute).
Failing that skulk bomb. If you've other gorgeshaped friends, convince them to do the same. Concerted skulk bombs destroy any base.
"lolz. liek, i atezor j00!"
If the short bus battalion would stop eating people and use charge and gore, bases would go down much quicker. Of course, marine cheese doesn't make it any easier. Turret and gl spam stop everything, not just Onii. Necrosis is also right about them going after crap like turrets while marines spawn in and pick up their old shotgun. TF and IPs take priority, then turrets/armory/arms lab/obs.
