<div class="IPBDescription">CC chair pit SUCKS</div> We had 2 hives. The marines were toting around in HA/HMG/GL. We had been slowly and steadilly loosing. I went onos and had my friend do it to. We avoided the HA patrols and ate anyone in our way. Then we went to the marine spawn (Where that little railing balcony is on the far side), jumped over, and dove in the CC pit. The turrets can't hit you down there, the only thing that can are marines that happened to be in the base. We were totally loosing, and then won because this little blindspot of a pit.

    soo true.
    i lost a game with 400 res full upgrades, tons od stuff in rine spawn and we had everything but 2 hives.
    we lost the cc in a blind spot and had no second cc.
    and they didnt notice, weld or win because its a newbie friendly server.

    Yes I have seen this done a few times, normally a pair of turrets ends up down there!

    On the other hand, that pit is a death trap for any alien that does get down there, provided the marines do their job and defend it.

    2 turrets isnt' going to stop an onos. Hell when we were bashing the CC, a couple marines stood at the edge of the pit and fired on us. I just jumped up and gored them, then continued beating the CC. My friend redemped, but the thing fell fast enough that we could take it out.

    I got my main base run over with oni but i reloced to the Los res since i had turrets up. We ended up sieging our way to victory.

    Is the range on the electrified turret factory enough to cover the cc? that might be a way to take care of it.

    Makes note: Spend resources to have 1/4 of your team just sitting around in the marine spawn in case they attack it, which is rare. Especially in small games, I can REALLY afford to loose half my team so they can just sit around in base.

    ah... this reminds me of the old 1.0 days... where i munched the cc game after game on hera.. simply because the marines neglected it...... so actually... its your teams fault.

    The pit and the turrets are one and the same, simply because turrets can't aim into the pit.

    The thing is, if you leave the pit undefended it's your own fault. Don't complain just because you negected to pop a turret or two down there. Many people would be happy to be able to tuck some buildings out of the way like that, where ranged attacks can't really do much.

    Turrets are very effective against lower lifeforms.

    Monkey.. im just saying some of the best strats ive seen dont even include a tf at base till late game... its just wasted res.... leave 2 rines behind at base and everyone else moves along and picks up rts and hives.

    And you think 2 marines, even in HA at full upgrades, would stop one onos, much less two? Up to that point in the same game I'd rampage into the base and kill at LEAST 2 HA just by goring them to death, then start whacking on other things/people.

    If there are several Onos in your base, perhaps, instead of trying to rely on automated defenses or baseguards, you should tell some marines to come back to base.

    Turrets are still what they were in 1.04: a deterrent. NO AUTOMATED DEFENSE IS EVER A REPLACEMENT FOR A GOOD MARINE.

    Turrets WILL die without a <b>MARINE</b> there to weld them up.

    A single pack of mines at the bottom of the ramp will actually suffice to kill an onos if there are a few turrets shooting at him on the way down as well.

    And has been pointed out.... you have 400 res but can't afford 30 to plunk down a new CC before the old one goes down? Sheesh.

    Keep in mind this is early game.. if they other side of your team has been doing their job their shouldnt even be a second hive availible.... yes... tf works... but not as good as 5 rines that phased in with shotguns.

    One mine pack can be spared for theses situations , and besides marines should care about aliens smashing buildings in their base when respawning (ie not armory hump and go rambo when they can perfectly hear a skulk munching at the CC)

    About the first exemple , if the TSA economy was healthy enough to let the marines roam around in HA suits then the comm should have been smart enough to drop a second CC in the locked hive for Marx's sake.

    Hey guys, remember in 1.04 in ns_bast when a skulk would come into the marine base through the vent, jump through the window, and chomp the comm chair?

    Remember when they were protected on most sides because the only way for a marine to kill 'em would be to take the elevator up?

    Remember when people started watching for this, and took steps to counter it, like dropping a 2nd comm chair, dropping turrets behind the chair, or having the marines ready for any skulk who does that?

    If my com chair is under attack, I will yell "My chair is under attack! Help!" over voicecom until someone saves it and won't drop anything until that happens.

    It tends to work pretty well.

    lol that ns_lost CC pit is a saint clas to have the CC away from all the action also is farest from teh only enterance to the base so it easy to hear ur sentry under attack or sentry fireing u call ur team back by the time there back they maybe one redeming 2 attacking CC or 3 runing like onos do so often now. Its not onos i would be worried about its a gorge and another alien be it fade skulk lerk or onos the gorge is the new sentry killer, like fade used to be.
