Joystick Problem

pitch/yaw won't work right
My computer: Compaq 5000 series, 933 MHz P3, 256 MB RAM, Geforce 2 MX 64 MB graphics card (I think), Sound Blaster PCI 512, Windows ME, OpenGL 800x600, no EAX, and Half-Life install. Joystick: Wingman Extreme.
I posted this as a bug report (because it probably is), but in the meantime, I need to fix this. Basically, the joystick's pitch and yaw (up/down left/right) will only go a VERY SHORT distance then freeze there, and the screen will temporarily flash, like its fighting the joystick or something to that effect. It just happens in Natural Selection, all my other games (TFC, HL, CS) work just fine, and NS 1.0 worked fine as well, so I'm thinking there might be a problem with the update. And yes, I have all the stupid stuff checked, enabling joystick, joystick look, setting up the right joystick .cfg files, etc.
One other person has had this problem in the General forum (I think), but he never bothered to post here.
Thanks for any help you could give me.

as an odd experament
take your config.cfg rename it to config.bak
then copy your config.cfg from any other mod into NS and see what happens
On another note, do you REALY do better with a joystick over a mouse? (no fine contrl at all with a joystick, and you cant simply point and click, you have to twitch over here, tiwtch back etc)

No Luck on the config file change, but it was an idea I didn't quite think of.... heh.... same effect as before, no joystick movement except for a small bit, then it stops and makes it go back to the center.
And as to joysticks being better than mouses, there are more buttons within easy reach, it feels better hitting a trigger clicking a mouse (just a different "feel), and you wouldn't have to mess with a whole lotta crap to play a flight sim game, like the Star Wars series. And as for the fine control, that's why I set up different .cfg files. I'f I've got a sniper rifle, I hit a key, and it tightens up, if I've got a minigun or machine gun, I hit another key and it loosens up again.
Please help.
Thanks,
Mr.DNA

And [Locke], you'd seriously be surprised, that's all I have to say. I'm here for tech support, not another random guy telling me that joysticks suck, I get plently of that as-is, until their head becomes a nice bloody mess, they tend to shut up real quick.
Oh yeah, and exuse me for wanting a simple problem fixed that all other mods I've played had no problems with.
If it matters I'm running an AthlonXP 1.5 GHZ, 1GB of PC133 RAM, GeForce4 TI-440, SB-Live, Win2000. I'd like to see a solution for this, as I don't like playing with a mouse and keyboard.
And for all of you nay-sayers out there, a Panther XL is a joystick with a trackball built into the left hand side, so I have both analog movement and analog aiming. I feel having analog control over movement and aiming is much better (maybe not for NS, but definitely for stealthy games like CS).
Im using a MS sidewinder precsion pro.
Win 2k SP 2
Joystick works fine for other mods (TFC,DOD) and used to work fine with 1.04.
The problem I'm getting is slightly different to whats posted above, in that I can move forwards and backwards, but the X-axis will not work at all.
I have configured ns 2.0 exactly the same as I have with the other mods, I have checked out the config file and there seems no difference.
I experienced a similar problem with a DOD release. The DOD team eventually released a patch which corrected it (if I remember correctly, the problem was that the joystick would always act as if joystick look was on, no matter what was in the config).
Was just wondering, if any development guys are looking at this, because i'd like to get playing 2.0 a.s.a.p having enjoyed 1.04 so much.
Ta in advance!!
