We all know that ns has gotten a lot prettier, one of the first things we notice is the new cross hairs.
What many people dont realize is these crosshairs are near perfect for the weapons they are for.
lmg- its just a little blue dot, probably the least helpful of the new crosshairs, jus treat it like normal.
pistal- another blue dot, with a triangle thing below it, the dot is exactly were the bullets will hit.
Shotgun- this one is now the bottom half of a circle, use this one well, it shows the best effective range of the gun. when a skulks body fills the circle \ / fire, all or near all will hit it. this works for just about all aliens, right before their model would be wider than the crosshair, and there feet are at the bottom of the circle, is when the shot will be most efficient.
HMG- treat this one similar to the shotty's, you will have to find the spread range the cross hair shows on your own, im not sure how to describe the distance well enough, but it does give you something to help you eyeball your spread.
Grenade Launcher- My favorite new cross hair, several vertical lines. Because of the gl arc each line give you a different range, farther away, use the lower lines to aim, closer, use the higher line. With a little practice the new cross hair can get you perfect grenade accuracy and range every time

My main gripe with the GL crosshair is that the 25 and 50 don't really tanslate into any realworld measurements for me that I can use (How far away from you is '25', anyways?) , and it does take up a large amount of the screen. But yea, when you get past that, it's awsome.
Edit: I barely use the crosshairs to aim anyway. The messed-up D3D versions are fine for me. Crosshairs be damned, I like sexy guns!
Microsoft doesn't support OpenGL with the default drivers that come with XP. All you have to do is download updated drivers from your manufacturer (most likely Nvidia or ATI, unless you have integrated video).
The only complaint I have about the new ones is that the shotgun crosshair (a full circle), looks *exactly* like a motion tracking blip.
I can't tell you how many times I've finished building a structure, had the shotgun crosshairs pop up, and think OH CRAP to myself before realizing it's not an alien.
