The 2.0 Jetpack

In my oppinion the 2.0 JP is just too weak. It feels like a broken one, you cant get fast enough in the air and you drop down like a stone. Yes, it was too strong in 1.04 but now nobody researches it. The only used tech is heavy armor and that makes games much more boring, jetpack brought more variations in the tactics. On both sides, because now you see HAs fighting against Onos in the very endgame, maybe stronger jetpacks will enhance the diversity of species and make it more interesting *dream*.

My tipp: Change the LMG + JP status to what it was in 1.0 and handicap the heavier weapons + JP as it is in 2.0

Correct me if Im wrong with JP in 2.0.

Here I'll just edit myself right with the initial post to save Coil or whomever some trouble:
***IF YOU DON'T HAVE ANYTHING NICE TO SAY, BALEET***

That said, I'll repeat the same flipping thing everyone else has said. JP are the counter to onos. Jump in, jump out (jump around) and shotty his cow-self 'till he dies or redeems. It's not that hard.

I don't see anything wrong with JP. I have seen several occasions where JP GL/HMG rushes are effective. They work well against an onos if you place yourself right. The only thing I see people doing wrong is treating it still like a jetpack. If you use it to bounce around like a some kid doped up on Mountain Dew then it can be amazing!

The jetpack is fine, the new version hasn't been out very long. Please, adapt.

Playing a couple games on one server, doesn't cut the pie. Explore, please.

I am reminded of playtesting right now. when the jp was nerfed everyone hated it. Then the nerf stayed. People got used to it. Guess what, they love it now *gasp*

Seriously, it is good, it isnt the 1.04 jetpack and that is something that must be learned to deal with. Learn to use the new jp for what it is, and dont use it like the 1.04 otherwise you will die with it. adapt.

JP takes more skill to use now. Hint: Jump with the jetpack, then release the jump and wait until you are at the top of the jump (ie, have no speed up or down) then engage jump again... presto, you are now flying at a nice and even height as long as you have fuel in the pack.

This probably will be locked, but why not respond in the first place. My responce...

Think of jetpacks as jump-packs. Ta da! Your problem is solved. Play the game more than five days, then make posts about this. Jetpacks are good when your killing a hive, just jump around from place to play and fire at it.

PS: Has anyone been to a server where they just made it so heavy armor can have JP's? Oh my god, that was back in 1.04 on siege005, talk about pwnt...

Pfft, they work fine. They're not supposed to be an end-game thing, anyway.

JPs work quite well with HA as the HA can hold their ground and the JP flank. Only possible end game though due to cost.

JPS are great again... as long as you cant float for long! LIVE IT! Else we gonna have the nuclear winter of 1.04

I think HA do a better job against Onos.

    Onos counter=Jetpack

Jetpack counter(s)=Lerks (Spikes or spores), Fades (acid rocket, or blink), Skulk leap, gorge (Spit, web, OC's).

The JP just has too limited a use and isn't useful at all against mixed aliens (as they die fast+cost too much). HA generally better overall, and HA+Shotguns are incredibly effective.

I research it. I win too.

Jetpacks roxor your boxers. That said, they aren't much of a solo weapon anymore, though they can be used occasionally (we used it to setup phasegates in the hive and swarm it with light shotgunners). They're great support, patrol, and scouts, though. Jetpacks themselves work fine as is, they're just not capable of uber maneuvering (which is the point), but rather acceleration, height, and simple manuevers. Seem fine to me.

once again, fools that dont know how to use stuff properly **** about it

try not to hover in the air, rather make well timed jumps, remember jps dont take falling damage! use it to your advantage

sure i COULD adapt to the new jp but i rather put jp nerf on my server and beef it up like b4

I'd like to see one round HA, the next JP. If this doesn't start happening in the next two weeks then a price drop should be considered.

lol @ the people who think its a counter. In a hallway (which is where most of NS takes place), the onos can just jump up and gash/devour you. In a big room, the jetpack will win *only* if the onos is...less than retarded. Usually the onos wont even try to fight a jetpack in a big room, such as rr, and will run away. Big counter. oh yeah, go chase him into a 10 foot hallway, i'll be right there to call you dinner. The jetpack is only useful at making hit-and-runs against hives. Kthxbye.
