3 Gorge Strat?

<div class="IPBDescription">how effective</div> in 1.04, we used a 3 gorge strat a few times on the cofr server. its benifits were 3 quick d chambers, the ability to storm through the map with a few skulks. we figured that it delayed the 2nd hive by less than a minute.

i think this strat would actually work better in 2.0, as you start with 25 res. the 3 gorges can drop 3 quick chambers, and then 2 of the gorges can drop res nozzles while the 3rd gets the 2nd hive. do you think it will be effective?

    I tend to play on biger servers, 20-22 people, and its almost a necicity to have 3-4 gorges at the begining to quickly cap a bunch of res, later after you have 6 or so rt and 2 hives you can handle with 2.

    I'll never see that happen in Hong Kong and Taiwan servers,because practically they all speak chinese :/

    I have yet to find a decent server where they <b>understand English </b> :/

    early on I'm starting to feel that its much better to have the whole team except one gorge and get res and or upgrade chambers then go skulk except 1 or 2, then that last initial skulk is saving for hive. Too many times people save for onos off the bat then die because they didnt have multiple hives, dont be so greedy!!!

    Actually, the preferred tactic I've noticed is that there is no designated gorge. Everyone goes out and caps an RC with the initial 25 res, or drops an SC in a vital location (like twin res. One chamber in the right place and you've effectively secured it).

    The thing is, gorges no longer gain more res than other aliens so there's little point in having permanent gorges. It makes more sense to go skulk, go slaughter a bunch of marines, and then build something with the resources gained - skulks typically get res faster than gorges.

    So it makes the most sense to have *no* gorges, except for when someone has enough res to build something important, at which point they gorge, drop it, and de-evolve or suicide. From a building perspective, anyway.

    Tried Singapore servers? There's a few clans there so you may get more teamwork there. Just avoid singnet servers like the plague. They have a sucky CPU or something.

    I like working with another gorge to infest areas with chambers. Quite rewarding to see your infestation taking down rines! I have yet to see Gorgtillery yet though. I think the servers I play in have yet to get used to the idea of gorges doing the actual attacking of bases... I want to see it though.

    5 1/2 Gorge Rush: 2 go Gorge on spawn and drop movement chambers, 3 more go Gorge to drop RTs, 1 goes Gorge later on but stays a skulk for now. Skulk roams around scouting while the gorges get either of the Movement upgrades (preferably Celerity or Adrenaline), then first Gorge gets 10 res he puts up a 2nd Movement while the other one saves for a RT. As soon as Skulk gets 40 res he morphs to Gorge and puts up a hive as he hatches while the others put O chambers around the map and stay together.. Then ex-Skulk joins the group and they go spread the Heal Spray + O Chambers joy. ;P

    Servers I play on you do get 2 permanent gorges (myself for one) that work together for RT capping, tower building, and hive production. You'll have a third "floater" who'll switch when things get hairy.

    While its true that ATTACKING nails you more RTs, if you're a bad skulk then you'll see much less profit. If you're a bad skulk, you're a liability to your teammates who rely on you to kill.

    At least if I'm gorge I know what I'm doing, I do it well, and I help the team more than I would by going skulk and getting toasted for absolutely zero Res or strategic gain.

    Only having 2-3 gorges is not NEARLY enough for the early game. You should have 4-5 go gorge in the beginning to lay down res and then have you 2 permanent gorges only be gorge.

    I normally stay skulk until i have enough for a hive.

    My personal fast time for hive 2 is 3:20 into eclipse for starting to put up Comp core.

    Before that i had 3:50 for cargo in Lost.

    and for shizzle, if you all go gorgizzle from the stizzle (start) then yizzle can drop lots of chambizzles!

    (I.E. have 3 chambers and 3 resnodes in like a min or two)

    Is the 25 res you start with gauranteed or server changeable?
    I was on a server last night and upon entry, I had 0.
    And they came in stupid slow.

    At the start of the game, all aliens get 25 res. Any aliens who join within the first minute don't have to wait in the spawn queue and get 25 res. After that first minute, anyone joining aliens gets thrown in the spawn queue with 0 res.

    Does that leave time for one to jump in, gorge, drop 2 chambers, reconnect, repeat?
