Still Haven't Got Ns

<div class="IPBDescription">:(</div> Yes, very sad this. I still haven't got NS 2.0 <!--emo&:(--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/sad.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='sad.gif'><!--endemo--> . That's cause of my 33kbps connection, which makes the download go at 1, or 2 kbps. It sux big time this.

So I was wondering. Is there anyway that I can make the download go faster? I can't get broadband, but I'll get a 56kbps soon (which hopefully will make the download go faster than 2 kbps).

I have DAP, but that's it.

    You already use DAP?

    You might instead try <a href='http://www.getright.com' target='_blank'>getright</a> or <a href='http://www.flashget.com/' target='_blank'>flashget</a>. But honestly, the real problem is your connection. You don't have any friends with broadband and a CD burner? Or an internet cafe with the same? Or a school? Or a rich uncle?

    Or at the least, a 56k modem?

    My 56k modem told me 11 hours. <!--emo&:(--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/sad.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='sad.gif'><!--endemo-->

    Thank goodness for relatives who live in town with DSL. Took longer to burn it onto a CD to take home than to download! <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo-->

    I think a few game magazines need to put 2.0 on their cover CD's.

    BitTorrent has support for file download pausing, and there were rumors that broadband users could download NS2.0 at speeds roughly 300kb/second on opening night. I don't know how download speeds are now, (especially on dial-up), but you can give it a shot.

    That really has to suck, friend.

    I suggest the rich uncle! <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo-->

    But honestly, I'd hop on over to an internet cafe, or a buddies house, and just download, and burn the file.

    Best of luck, on your NS- 2.0 journey.

    PC Gamer is also in the US, if thats the sort of thing you were getting at.

    But, more on topic, maybe you should just let your computer run while you find another way to download/obtain it, just in case you dont. Best of luck to ya!!

    Dear god. I am so sorry for you <!--emo&:(--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/sad.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='sad.gif'><!--endemo-->.

    Pray for salvation mate... broadband is coming...
  • ClintClint Join Date: 2003-08-03 Member: 18816Members
    I beleive broadband isn't an option in this case, unless you head on over to friends/internet cafe.

    But don't worry, friend. My fingers are still crossed for you!

    Yes, I probably will go to a friend's place. No, even better. My mom's friend got a school and the Internet there downloads things at 1mbps. Just need to check if it had a CD burner.....

    Hopefully PCGamer puts it on theirs! Thats how I got into NS, march 2003 edition. Man, I sent about 40 thank you letters to them about that...maybe I should have found out you did that, eh MonsE? And btw, I actually sent a letter about NS2.0, if we could get everyone to do it, I think they'll do it again.

    BTW, MonsE, send them much beer. They'll like that, AND it'll make it easier to put in.
