the only way to win
I have noticed that the only way to win as a marine is to get HA and HMGs. But the aliens can win with just about anything as long as they have teamwork.

perhaps, i commed some games(always won) and the way to go was HA. BUT, i just played a game where we had no HA, and only L1 armor and waepons. And we won. Well, you can say we rushed, but no, it was a loooong game(and the commander wasnt the best) but ill say in general HA is the way to go, but its not a must.
Good. HA should be the best way to win. The way I see it is that HA should be your main assualt team, the people that can just walk in and kill all. The JPs are for sneaky type stuff. Ya know, sneaking in the vent for a secret siege on the hive. And for a low profile hive with not much defence.
Even with everything, aliens can't win solo. I've seen too many games where there are 8 Oni and 2 Fades and they still get owned because they're just trying to run in and destroy the base.

If you think outfitting Heavy Armor on all your marines will win you the game, wait 'till you see the devastation wreaked by a team half outfitted with HA's, other half outfitted with jetpacks.
One half takes care of the Lerks, helping the other half survive to take care of the Oni, helping the first half survive to take care of....you get the idea.
Yep, mixed groups of aliens really are a must. You need gorges bileing, lerks umbraing, get skulks to xeno to clear out marines, rain down spores on them, Use fades to takeout select marines, Onos draw fire they all fit together like that annoying little jigsaw puzzle that takes you 3 years to finish.
A shotty rush can win. Can being the key word, on our server we have stopped shotty rushes before.
/edit just to add more.
Before people start thinking things suck (like JPs and DC) I urge them to actually play NS for a while. Anyone with an open mind to strats can easily see that NS is pretty much perfectly balanced. Teamwork, the end.

as long as you listen to the comm and the comm is good, and you can shoot something, marines will win. On the other hand if u on aliens stick to 3 gorges and teamwork, and you will win.
Both teams doing that will ensure a 2 hr game.
HA is irrelivant, you will be devoured, STOMP STMP.
It's not the only way. Even in the short time thus far, we've pulled off other wins... Including sneaking jetpackers behind enemy lines (yes, they had lines) to wreack havoc with shotties on their resource flow. Most of my squads, if the game lasts that long, have one or two jetpacks as well, and the squad's almost always a mix of shotties, hmgs, and gls (I don't see much use for lmgs... *shrugs*). That said, we've won with light armor shotty marines, and not a rush either... I just had them constantly moving with the help of motion tracking against mc Khaara, chopping up res points and any attempts to get a second hive. The end game was played out with gls and shotties, light armor marines, and siege turrets, and only one onos.

They're for support, patrol, and general mobility as well... I like having a jetpacker with a gl.

(HMG doesn't win the game now FYI, you need GL AND shotty)
(Also, aliens can't win with anything! They need everything, like the marines do. You must use all abilites, this includes marines)
The footsteps noises!
And the..um...massive groups of them!
And welders!
I enjoy devouring them.
