<div class="IPBDescription">I like flaunting myself.</div> In this thread I'm gonna release my review after a few days of intense testing. Right now its just my first thoughts.
Please don't lock this, being I doubt its against any rules. If it is, PM me, about the rule, cause I personally don't see this as a spam thread.

While the overall....everything is good, the age old problem NS has on someone, ESPECIALLY with new versions, is the...well, how you get overwhelmed. Its easy to get involved with your team to make it less overwhelming though.
And something being overwhelming isn't exactly a bad thing, either. It immerses you into the experience, making it FEEL like a real world. I remember playing on Mineshaft: I honestly felt like I was a Kharaa, fighting for my race's existence, while playing. Why? Because there were tons of us, everywhere, scrurrying, helping eachother...everything.
What impressed me the most with 2.0 is the new interface. Its quite literally amazing. While it keeps the old interface's...cleanliness, it now has even more information being dealt to you every second. You know when something is built, where its built, and its very easy to be able to tell everything about what your team is doing.
Now, the alien team has a lot of differences, from what I can tell. Obviously, things are much cheaper now, and everything(but res nodes) is much smaller. But I do have one gripe-I wanted to SEE and be able to WATCH the new technology of the skulk's body on the walls, so I was kind of missing a third person mode. But then again, people would be able to look around corners and the such, so it isn't a good idea. I just wish that maybe skulks were a bit bigger, to make it easier to see the new tech.
Now, for marines, I'm happy to say, I don't see one wrong thing. Its quite amazing. When you play on marines, you get this feeling like you really are a part of a team. And the first time I heard "You are in Squad 1", I felt like I mattered. It really was impowering, and it really made me play better. Also, it all seemed quite real, like I said before. When people talked on the mic, they sounded like they were in the actual situation, and I think thats because the great, immersive graphics all put us in there, feeling like we really needed to rid the universe of this race.
My only big gripe is the one from earlier-how overwhelming it can get. Other than that, its just a few graphical things I wish could have made it in.
Expect my final review in a few days. I have a better feeling about this mod, and it was already my favorite game of all time.

i actually have a few gripes about it, but i need to poitn out that 99% of the game is the roxxor, and i just point out the minor problems in hope of seeing the game made even better.
um... how do i change the devour screen image? its probably one sprite file... its too reminiscenct of an all too popular scary website.
Reason: The Commander Interface.
There are more frickin bugs on that thing that there are lines of code in the game.
Example: You can't talk on the mic when nothing is selected. Some things, if you mouse over them, start being researched, using up your res points. A lot of times, I'd click the ground, and my cursor would turn into a turret. That is the most annoying thing ever, being that half the time, I'll right-click afterwards, and then to do anything I gotta select anything.
And not to be mean, but whos the arse that thought it'd be a good idea to have THE ONLY scanner sweep icon only selectable when you have the obs selected? ESPECIALLY when the obs is the MOST BUGGY thing you've got?!
One of the games biggest features is downright terrible now, and I'd like to return it to the original way.
Example: You can't talk on the mic when nothing is selected. <!--QuoteEnd--></td></tr></table><span class='postcolor'><!--QuoteEEnd-->
That is not a bug... That is because you can now select the marine you want to talk to... And maybe give him a specific order.
If you want to talk to everybody, use "Select All Button"
By the way, you should read Changelog in NS 2.0 before you start complaining!
That would be a 6,000 page bug list FYI.
I don't think the things you mentioned are known bugs (meaning we've never seen them), so if you could post the steps necessary to reproduce them, that would be handy.

damn thats freakin sweet. th i've never been assigned to a squad yet is there anyway to tell who else is in your squad? and can you select to just talk to that squad in voice comm? how about two voicerecord commands, squad talk and team talk for the non commander?
my voicecomm is bound to q and mouse3 by default, but in commander mode, the mouse buttons are redefined, and the whole left side of the keyboard is taken up by hotkeys, so maybe i should bind a THIRD button to talk to anyone? somewhere nicely int he middle of the keyboard so i ahve to search for it during battle?
... ugh...

I did read the changelog. But it says that the thing isn't on, not to mention, NO ONE hears me when its like that. I think thats seriously a flaw.
And also, the voicecomm as comm has gotta be bugged, being as a commander whenever you hold it down to say something, it keeps making the noise like you selected something, over and over and over, at a rapid(and annoying) pace, until you stop pressing it.
Well, now you mention it....
/me finds custom replacement...
Squadmates will show up as green on your minimap.

The new interface is so nice, but it does seem a little buggy in places.
