I highly doubt that many servers are going to be upgrading to 2.0 as soon as the file comes out tomorrow. More likely they'll wait until tomorrow night or Thursday morning and upgrade then, since nobody's going to be connecting to 2.0 servers until Thursday afternoon anyway.

The issues I read about delt with the oni getting stuck. Now unless they changed the onos' hull we should still beable to play nancy like we do now. And hopefully that handy little unstuck pro plugin will still work.

If not then I guess its 'asta la vista baby'.<!--QuoteEnd--></td></tr></table><span class='postcolor'><!--QuoteEEnd-->

Don't count on it. According to the testers, ns_nancy has been rendered unplayable in 2.0, MUCH worse than it is now. I'm not sure how/why, something about a bug in 1.0X covering up the problem before? Suffice it to say there was a good reason it was removed. Some more info from a vet/PT would be appreciated.

I dunno. I don't think it's just a couple of problems like it is now. They totally revised all the stuck issues with new code working with new stuff in the maps (I think), and because the source file to Nancy was lost they couldn't update it. With the new code it makes you get stuck even more on the maps that havn't been updated to work with it.

I heard you can't even walk for 5 seconds as an onos in 2.0 on Nancy without getting stuck, but what do I know?

NS 1.04 was always there for us. NS would make us happy when we were sad, even if we were a bit laggy that day. NS taught us the ways of proper aim, ambushing, etc. NS 1.04 introduced so many TSA Space Marines into the Aliens world, and vice versa. Sure they had a few arguments and fights but... they made up later. After they ate each other of course. Oftentimes, the marines and skulks would make peace in vents, where a glitch in the universe allowed some sort of invincibility to the marines. Regardless, NS 1.04 will always be missed. You served us well.

Why should servers swich to a version hat has no clients?
just to be empty one day fooling some noobs?

Its just to make sure every server can have the files to be ready when the clients want to join.
it doesnt mean to update your server erlyer.
    just makes no sense.

I haven't run an NS server before, but from the sounds of the server operator forums, setting up an NS server isn't exactly as easy as installing the game client-side. Some super-admins might be able to set it up no problem, but for those that cant, thats why the server is being released early. Admins will want plenty of time to make sure their server is up for the big client release.

Running an NS server is no harder than running any other HL-mod server except for some of the bugs and issues with the 1.0x release. Inevitable on a first release. If I was expecting any major problems I would really want the server version much earlier but 1 day is just so us admins can get our servers up to scratch and settled for the first day of NS2.0.

Otherwise you'd download the client and install it and then realise you had nowhere to play.

they at least need to test it out - my guess is that they will upgrade to 2.0, but keep the 1.04 server running while they test the new 2.0 server out.

I laughed. I cried. I ate res towers. I killed gorges. I parasited marines. I built sieges. I umbra'd fades. I wielded heavy machine guns. I cloaked from my enemies. I became Rambo. I built hives. I commanded armies.

Thank you natural selection 1.04 for the memories. Congratulations to Flaya and team for a job well done! Here's to the future!!!
