  ah yes that...... i've encountered that many times before. all you have to do, is go into half-life instead of ns and click custom game and activate ns. that should fix your problem. youll probabbly have to do that every time tho

  i think fileplanet has em....course you'll have to wait in line if you get it there....

  If your talking about NS for the newer version, then it is 1.0. The newest that has yet to come will be 2.0 (2 days). So you don't have to download anything until 2.0 comes. Unless you plan to have a server.

  You're using the desktop shortcut, right? Don't use it - use the start menu one instead. This is a known bug.
  
  You do not need the latest patch unless you intend to host an NS server, at present. When NS 2.0 is released you will need to download the latest patch, but right now you do not.
