<div class="IPBDescription">So like tell me already...</div> Thinking about switching the server over to linux for stability and resource concerns, so tell me what you use if you so wish. Thank you kindly strangers.
Also, linux comes with a terminal to remotely administer the OS right? But, is it possible to connect to it from a Windoze box? Is some kind of special software needed?

Yes, it is possible to connect to a linux box remotely, you need an SSH client to do that. The freely available one on the web is called PuTTy. Please refer to Vadakill's EXCELLENT linux walk through at the top of this page for more information.

In the end it doesn't really matter. You'll have to manually adminster the box through the terminal a lot anyway because of the overhead of running a GUI.
The install documentation is excellent, and installing it really does teach you a lot about how to set linux up. It's not linux-from-scratch, but they're a pain anyways <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->
This is a smart smart man. koodos for him!!! Slackware is the best, most compatible distro i've even come across.
Its not for the weak. You need to already be fairly sazzy before hitting it. Unless you have alot of freetime, then its the most basic distro for a true guru. No package systems.
Not quite sure what you mean about ruling out a download. You don't need a floppy to install Debian. The ISO is bootable, so you can boot off a CD. Same goes for every linux distro.
Really, a distro is a distro is a distro, just be proud you are running Linux <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->

You don't need a cdrom either <!--emo&;)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/wink.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='wink.gif'><!--endemo-->
Works fine, i get about 20% less performance under linux as i do under windows, but its not running natively so i dont mind.
As long as you have a decent PC you will get solid 100FPS anyway <!--emo&:0--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/wow.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='wow.gif'><!--endemo-->
If you're getting a 20% drop in performance you must have something setup funny.
