Hmm, this video (The DivX one) crashes Media Player, Media Player Classic and Real One Player.

    And isn't 50mb a little, well, OTT for a 2 minute clip.

And before you reply, don't even consider patronising my about configuring codecs and players, i've been doing this for a long time.

    As Esuna said.

Besides it's not 5-10 people Mr.Cocky, there are other people who visit the forums you know, not just people who signed up to the forums, it's more like 100-150 seeing how people can download these from other sites, besides the movie showing off 4 levels had windows media player.

To be honest, DivX 5 is NOT the most widely used format. Infact, it's generally avoided due to the annoyance of GAIN being force installed on installation of the codec.

DivX 3 and 4 are still very widely used, as are the AC3 and XviD codecs.

When i get home tonight i'll try and fix, crack down the file size and post in a few other file formats, if someone can host these it would be greatly appreciated, but i'll post later on tonight if i am doing it or not.

You can get DivX for free, without GAIN, I think it's DivX Pro that's not the free one.

The Normal DivX player does the job, and it still free with the codecs.

    Free: <a href='http://download.divx.com/divx/DivX505Bundle.exe' target='_blank'>DivX Free</a>
    GAIN: <a href='http://download.divx.com/divx/DivXPro505GAINBundle.exe' target='_blank'>GAIN (Eurgh)</a>

No, the DivX "bundle" is the DivX 5 codec, player and also GAIN. You have to agree to install GAIN to install it. Even with the free one.

Just "buy" a full divx without gain
  • evilopsevilops Join Date: 2003-02-13 Member: 13494Members
There are 3 choices when you download from divx.com ... the first one you buy, the 2nd one you get adware, the 3rd is just the core stuff and the player and is free w/o any adware..

    downloading the movie now.. <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->

I just got the K-Lite Codec Pack. Includes the latest DivX without any spyware or crap. <a href='http://www.k-lite.tk' target='_blank'>http://www.k-lite.tk</a> is the URL, I think.

Or just go get Nimo's codec pack or other such similar codec pack. Incredibly handy since they come with all the common video and audio codecs and also directshow filters etc.

Actually, currently I believe XviD to be the best encoding codec.

    A proper <b>DVD</b> quality rip of a 30min show is about 300Mb

    But that's descending into piracy.

I thought it was well made and was cool. So what if a few people with dark monitors didn't like it. It was very enjoyable for me. Mission accomplished Lux&Co.

I did not think you would eat 15+ gb in one day, I should have unlimited on that server though, it is being dealt with and more bandwidth should be up soon

I know that the style of this movie was not totaly consistant and there are alot of things that I would do differently if we did it over, but whatever it is all said and done now. take from it what you will.
